(countinues from ch9)
my mom countinued to run around the house trying to get a signal. i stayed outside, it was too quiet in the house and besides i enjoyed the breeze. i shifted in the lawnchair, trying to get comfy before i heard my phone buzz.
theo: ok but what if there was big men outside my window
theo: i keep hearing shit lol
me: are ur parents home?
theo: no
theo: just me and my little sister
me: wyd make sure shes okay
theo: ik shes in my room w/ me
theo: which is why im concerned lol
me: text ur parents
theo: i did
theo: they're not responding
my eyebrows ruffled, unsure what to tell him to do. i felt this pit in my stomach, like something was actually wrong.
me: do you have any neighbors you can stay with?
theo: ahh god idea
theo: good*
theo: brb
i turned off my phone and crossed my arms. sitting in scilence. i looked up to the sky, a full moon. a seemingly beautiful night, but something felt- off. it was probably just me worrying about theo. i texted B and amari asking if their power was out, they both said no. i sighed, closing my eyes. just then, i got a responce from theo
theo: ok my neighbor is letting me and my sis stay
me: thank god
theo: yeah lol
me: i was worried ngl
theo: awww so sweet
me: whatever
me: i dont want someone to die over text that would be traumatic
theo: lame lol
theo: wanna call?
me: sure
i beamed as i picked up the phone. "hey im on my neighbors porch right now and theres alot of people here so thats why theres noise in the background" he admitted. "oh alright thats fine haha," i laughed "i texted b and amari, they said their power was working fine.." i mentioned, looking up to the sky. "weird. maybe our streets were the chosen ones~" i heard his voice from the phone. i chuckled.. "maybe you're right.." i trailed off. "its probably something with the power grid-" he cut himself off. i heard loud crashing, "holy shit!!" my eyebrows furrowed. "what happened?" i asked. i heard him yell for someone, probably his sister. "t-theo?! are you okay?"
