THE FOLLOWING DAY Rachel Davis and Luke Andrews were seated in a compartment at the end of the Hogwarts Express. Luke sighed as he looked up from The Daily Prophet.

"She's fine, now can you please stop tapping?" Luke asked the raven-haired girl who was tapping her foot. Rachel rolled her eyes at her best friend.

"Sorry that I care about our best friend." She snapped back. Luke rolled his eyes, but they quickly moved to the compartment door that just slid open. There Ariana stood with her usual smile and a perfect outfit. Although the two in the compartment couldn't see it, Ariana was still in unbearable pain from the events of yesterday.

"Hello," she said with a wince that she covered with a giggle as Rachel jumped from her seat to hug the girl. Ariana then sat next to Luke and put her head on his shoulder. He looked down at the blonde with a smile. This was nothing unusual as the three were so close they were often mistaken for siblings.

( Even though they looked nothing alike )

"So, how were your summers?" she asked the two glancing at the Prophet in Luke's hand. Before she could get a good look, Luke closed it, only for her to see a familiar face on the front page.

"Boring," Luke said snapping her out of her daze. "Stayed in my room reading for most of it. Although, my cousins did come over for a bit." Rachel scoffed.

"I'm pretty sure you're the only one who reads during the summer. Seriously, why are you not in Ravenclaw?" she said leaning forwards and crossing her arms.

"I'll have you know that many people read during the summer!" Luke said narrowing his eyes. Ariana smiled at the twos bickering, this was also a usual thing between the three. They would either be laughing or arguing, there was no in-between.

"By many do you mean you and Hermione?" Rachel asked with a raised eyebrow. Ariana picked her head up at this.

"How is Hermione? Have you spoken to her?" Ariana asked.

"She's fine, only a few compartments from us, along with Ron and Harry." Rachel said making Ariana roll her eyes just as the trolley lady came to the door. "The usual?" she asked the two only for them to nod. She left, leaving Ariana and Luke in comfortable silence.

"You alright?" The curly-haired boy asked after a few seconds of observing the blonde. It was times like this Ariana hated the fact that Luke could read her so easily.

"Yeah, I'm doing okay. No need to worry." She responded, a small smile finding its way on her face. She wasn't alright, and she was sure Luke could tell. But he didn't say anything, going against nearly every instinct in his body.

"Here you go." Rachel said as she came back into the compartment, oblivious to the conversation. "Two Chocolate Frogs for Ari," she said as she plopped the chocolate treats on her lap. "A Cauldron Cake for Luke." she continued and tossed a cake to Luke. "And a Liquorice Wand for me," she said as she sat down across from the two.
