So here's the thing. One, Jongin is going to die of an heart attack. Two, Jongin can feel Kyungsoo's breath against his neck. Three, Kyungsoo looks extremely beautiful under moonlight. And four.

Kyungsoo's scars.

White gashes and circles littered Kyungsoo's torso and back. Jongin felt no shame, and moved closer to look. Some of the scars looked healed, some look like they've been created...very recently. My mom threw me out again. Kyungsoo had said. Jongin peered closer. The white circles seem to be burns from cigarettes, as if someone had cruelly lighted a cigarette and pressed it against his body.

Jongin felt a sting behind his eyes. He looked up at Kyungsoo's calm figure and all he could picture in his mind was a small frightened 5 year old boy, swallowing harsh words and insults and taking beatings and torture. Jongin thought about the day he laughed loudly with his friends in the bus. His laughter was contagious and so was he. Even if he was hiding some dark secret behind.

"Why are you staring at me?" Kyungsoo whispered, pulling the sheets up higher.

"Because you're beautiful." Jongin answered, eyes still transfixed onto him.

Kyungsoo didn't move. He continued staring up in the ceiling, eyes gazing at blank concrete. "You really think so?"

Jongin sat up. "I rarely compliment people. The last time I told someone was beautiful was never. You do the calculations. Do I really mean it?"

Jongin thought he saw Kyungsoo's mouth twitched into a smile. "And the last time someone told me I was beautiful was never."

"Your scars..." Jongin knew he was treading into forbidden ground but he was so !@#$%^&* curious, and he really really wanted to know. Kyungsoo tensed. "You saw them?" His voice turned fearful for a moment before he covered it up. Jongin nodded timidly.

Kyungsoo sighed. "I really do not want to talk about this right now." Jongin nodded silently. "That's alright." He says and lays back down on the bed. Jongin turns away. "I'm really jealous that you still have parents though. I don't even know where mine went."

Kyungsoo stayed silent for so long, Jongin thought that he had fallen asleep. "It's hard having someone you love to hate you. I-I" Kyungsoo let out a shaky sigh. "I'm so tired of trying, I'm so tired of having to be the one to please others, I just want someone to do that for me, is that really so hard?"

Kai sighed as well, in synchronization with Kyungsoo's moving stance.

"You don't even know."

--

The night passed by in a blur of dreams, random body contact and gusts of wind. Jongin had nothing else he wanted to say, or at least, nothing else he dared to.

--

"Hello? Is umma at home?" Kyungsoo silently tapped his fingers on his jeans-clad knees. "Yeah...yeah. Is she okay? Can I go home now?......alright. thanks."

"So?" Jongin asked cautiously. "She said I could go back now. Thank you for everything." Kyungsoo awkwardly patted Jongin's back. A pang of disappointment hit him. Well, what was he expecting, him to stay forever? That seemed so impossible and stupid yet, highly attractive. When is he ever going to go out of this state of confusion?
