I wake up the next morning and rub my belly. Alice is kicking as usual, requesting breakfast. I laugh a little. Just like me, always ready for breakfast. I open my bedroom door and walk into the living room and stop when I see someone on my couch. I get worried. I never locked the door after Josh left. And I didn't tell Josh to lock the door. Who is on my couch? I walk over to this person quietly and tap his shoulder. "Five minutes," they say. I sigh when I realize it's just Josh.

"Mind telling me why you're asleep on my couch?" I ask him.

"Sorry, I hope you don't mind," he says. He sits up and wipes his eyes. "Before I left I came back to check on you. You were screaming in your sleep." My rape nightmare. "So I stayed, if you needed me I could get to you easily."

"Josh I'm fine, I've made it this far with all that's happened," I tell him. "Plus you have me your number in case I need your help with anything."

"I know but still," he says.

"Yeah, yeah," I say and walk into the kitchen. I rummage around in the fridge and find something to eat for breakfast. It's 8:15 and I have a doctors appointment across town. I don't like taking the bus. "Hey Josh."

"Yeah?"

"Can you take me to my doctors appointment across town? The bus scares me," I tell him.

"Sure, what time?"

"I need to be there by noon," I explain.

"You'll be there a little before noon," he grins. I smile back and turn around to finish cooking my breakfast.

"So Alice huh? What made you decide on that name?" Josh asks me as he munches on my left over breakfast.

"I've always liked the name Alice. Alice in Wonderland is my fave movie so I figured why not," I explain. Josh laughs at this a little. "Don't laugh. My daughter is nothing to laugh about and I will not have someone laughing at her name."

"Whoa clam down, I think it's a good reason. My mom wanted to name my brother that if he was a girl," he explains. I laugh a little. "Now see, who is the one laughing?" He grins.

"It's funny, considering your brothers name is Connor," I say.

"True," he says.

We both sit in the kitchen talking about school and what we're gonna do after graduation. I don't have much planned other than to take care of Alice. Josh on the other hand wants to move to LA to further his career in the acting field. At 11 o'clock I get ready to go to my appointment. Josh drives me over there and drops me off at the front door. "Do you want me to take you back to your apartment?" He asks.

"If you don't mind, this shouldn't take long," I tell him. He nods and I walk inside.

"Alright Ms. Stetson, Alice is doing fine. Have I told you I love that name? It's adorable," my doctor tells me.

"Only every time I'm here," I smile.

She smiles back, "well you're almost seven months along. Keep taking the vitamins and I'll see you in four weeks. Remember if you feel anything strange come straight here."

"I will, thank you," I say.

She grabs my hand and gives me a reassuring squeeze. "I know your parents don't care. And I know society thinks you asked for this. But I am here, not only as your doctor but as your friend. You can always talk to me."

"Thanks Melanie," I say and hug her. "I'm glad I still have you."

"I'm glad too, such a sweet girl. Do you need me to take you home?"

"No, I have a friend taking me home," I explain. She nods and hugs me again.

"Don't hesitate to call if you need to talk."

"I won't," I tell her. I get off the exam table and I leave. I see Josh and walk to his car. "All done?" He asks. I just nod. The drive back to my apartment is silent.

When we get to my apartment josh turns off his car. "Listen, Josh, I know you like me and don't care what happened in the past. You're a great guy and you deserve so much better than me. I'll text you if I need you but I've got this for now. I'll be fine," I explain and get out of his car.

"Heather Grace," he hollers to me. I turn around and right when I do Josh's lips crash into mine.
