Sakumo POV

Two weeks have gone by since I met Miyuki at the grocery store. Two weeks since I seen her last. My plan was to visit her bakery the next day after dropping Kakashi off at the academy, but a mission from the Hokage derailed that plan.

It was supposed to be a simple escort mission to the land of Honey, taking no more than a week. Unfortunately, the Princess we were hired to protect insisted that she needed to stop at every small village we passed to do some shopping. My squad, as well as her men, tried explaining numerous times why we shouldn't; and each time she would argue, saying that we were the hired help, she didn't need to listen to us, and continued with her shopping.

So here we are, a week late finally returning home. I was worried about Kakashi at first but reassured myself he was a smart kid and well behaved. The only thing I'd have to worry about as far as him was the extra week of babysitting I'd have to pay for.

That's when my mind drifted to Miyuki. That one encounter with her and her daughter left a lasting impression on me. She was incredibly beautiful; the way her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders, the brightness in her purple eyes, the way her smile grew when interacting with her daughter. Everything about her was just breathtaking. No woman besides my late wife, has ever had this much of a lasting impression on me.

I was devastated when she died so sudden, and poor Kakashi didn't know how to take the news either. It was hard at first, but I didn't want to dwell on it, so I focused my attention on my duties as a Leaf shinobi, and as a single father. Helping Kakashi with his training, and completing missions, that was my life.

Before I knew it, two years had passed by since my wife's passing, and I started to crave that companionship. Deciding to put myself back out there, but none of the women in the village held my interest. I was seeking love and a companion, someone who would love my son as their own. Sadly, the women I encountered looked at me as a status symbol. They weren't interested in Sakumo Hatake the loving father, no they only cared about the famous White Fang of the Leaf. It became tiresome after a while, and I was ready to give up on trying to date again, until I saw Miyuki.

Watching her struggle to reach that bag of cocoa chips was amusing, yet oddly adorable. I was hesitant to approach her, fearing she'd be like the rest, but pushed those thoughts away once she started to jump for the bag on the high shelf. After grabbing the bag for her, we chatted for a bit, and I patiently waited for the inevitable question; 'aren't you the famous White Fang?' But she never asked, in fact she didn't even acknowledge the fact that I was a ninja, which was refreshing. It was because of this; I was more than eager to get back home and hopefully see her again.

As the scenery around us changed, and the familiar forest surrounding Konoha took over, I quickened my pace. My heartbeat quickened at the thought of seeing her again. Making a mental list in my head of what needed to be done once I returned, I thought of all the possible ways I could stop by the bakery just in case something popped up again.

Miyuki POV

After ringing up the last customer I sighed as I locked the front doors. I usually don't close early, but after receiving my first catering order for an upcoming wedding, I wanted to make sure I planned accordingly, this bakery is a one woman show after all. Well one and a half if I'm counting Hikari, who only sticks around long enough to lick the cake batter from the bowls.

Walking into the back kitchen, I pick up the catering order, mentally preparing myself for the long night ahead of me.
