"anyone home?!" a cheerfull woman called, walking into the house a couple hours later.
"yeah mom!" Peter answered.
"hi baby" she smiled and kissed the top of his head.
"hi, I'm Aubrey" I greeted.
"Karen" she smiled warmly, we shook hands and then she looked down at Peter's paper.
"coming along good guys?" she asked, we both nodded.
"is he feeding you honey?" she teased, I laughed and nodded.
"there's left over pizza on the kitchen table if you want it." Peter said, she walked over to it and put her bags on one of the chairs.
"since when do you make pizza, Pete?" she asked confused, taking a slice.
"it wasn't me, Aubrey made it." Peter said and smirked up at me.
"PETER!" Chelsey screamed, and ran downstairs. Peter and I jumped out of the chairs and went over to her.
"Chelsey what's wrong?" Karen asked worriedly.
"nothing mom." Peter said and nodded to the front door. After we walked out to the front of the house, as soon as the door closed Chelsey snapped. She was hysterical crying, shaking and hyperventalating.
"Chelsey, you have to talk for me to understand you and help you." Peter said calmly, kneeling next to her. She shook her head no over and over again.
"what's wrong? is it Jay?" Peter guessed, and by the way Chelsey got even worse, we knew it was right.
"I'll grab my keys." I said and ran inside.
"is everything ok Aubrey?" Karen asked.
"I honestly have no idea." I sighed with a shrug, I had a hopless frown on my face and she half smiled. I liked how caring and sincerly worried she was about everything right now, I just hoped and prayed that nothing serious happened.
"sit back there with her." I said and I ran to my car. Peter carried her to the car and sat in the back with her.
"where am I taking us?" I asked confused.
"do you know how to get to Beverly Park?" he asked, I shook my head and he gave me his phone that had directions on it.
once we pulled into the empty park, minus a few cars, we were worried.
"they're in the back, by the baseball fields." Chelsey wimpered. Peter nodded and got out of the car. He ran to the back and I watched until he was cut from my view.
text from Peter: Jay's been shot at, his friends calling 911 now. Distract Chelsey for me please?
I started talking to Chelsey, making small talk and getting to know her better. Once I heard sirens growing closer, her head whipped behind and she watched them pull into the park.
"they're here for Jay right?" she asked, I nodded not wanting to lie to her.
"you know what happened right?" she asked, I nodded again.
"do you know where he was shot at?" she asked, then I realized why she was so upset, because someone had told her.
Perimedics ran with a stretcher over to the feild and a couple minutes later they were rushing Jayden to the ambulance. Peter collapsed in the car next to me, and I followed the ambulance to the hospital.
we sat in the waiting room and Peter called his parents. I decided to not tell my mom because she would freak out and be worried sick that I had been hurt too, no matter how much I told her otherwise. Chelsey was still shaking and crying hysterically. We knew nothing about him, where he was shot at, if he's going to be permantently injured from it, or anything.
"what the hell happened" a man whom I guessing was Peter's father demanded to know. I rubbed Chelsey's back and looked down at her, not wanting to look the man in the eyes he was so intimidating.
"Jay went to a fight to defend his girl, and he got shot at." Peter explained in a shaky voice. I knew he was upset from Jayden, but I could also sense fear in him from the man standing about an inch away from him.
"no girl is ever worth your life, I thought I taught you boys right."
"sorry, you did, you taught us very well."
I was confused about how he was giving in so easily to him, and saying things I knew he didn't agree with. It just didn't make sence to me.
"that's they're real dad, he got thrown out of the house for abusing the family, hes a sexist- obviously, and degrades everyone and holds himself on a pedistool. Just don't look at him." Chelsey whispered to me as I gave her a hug. I nodded in understandment, not knowing what else to say.
we waited for their dad to leave until we walked over to Karen and Peter. I gave Peter a big hug, knowing he would appreciate it a lot considering his worries towards his brother, and the rath and rage he just faced with his father.
"you're not a mess up, and your not worthless, you're perfect." I whispered firmly to him. He moved me out of the hug by pushing my waist and looked at me, highly confused.
"it was kind of hard not to hear your dad, his voice is loud enough without the echo of the hallway." I shrugged with an innocent smile, he smirked.
"thank you." he smiled and wrapped me in a hug again.
"you really don't have to keep him here. Harry can come home with me." I said as I was gathering up my books later on that night at his house.
"no, no, it's fine.. it can stay here." he shrugged.
"Harry." I corrected.
"it does not deserve a name." he corrected. I rolled my eyes and gave him a hug.
"be nice to him, he still needs to be alive once Monday comes around. Good thing we're getting extra credit for finishing early." I said, he nodded.
"it's a good thing we finished early, I agree." he smiled
"you just want Harry away from you, you don't even care about the extra credit." I rolled my eyes, he laughed with a nodd.
I shouted a good-bye to Karen who was upstairs, I heard a muffeled 'Bye sweetie' then walked to the door with Peter. He walked me to my car then I sped my way home so I wouldn't get in too much trouble for being so late.
