Clarissa's POV:

After we left dad and Max alone, we went to the kitchen.

It's been awhile since we left dad to deal with Max. I'm starting to get worried.

"What do you think is happening out there?" I asked Will and Alan.

They both shrugged and went back to eating their sandwiches that Mary had made for them.

"He is probably going to be handed over to the police." Alan said.

"He's only seventeen." I said.

Alan shrugged but didn't answer.

After some more time dad came in the kitchen. He placed his hands on the counter and sighed looking down.

"Dad are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"What happened? It took you a long time to come back here. And where is Max?" Alan asked.

"I sent him back. He told me something important about his father and I let him go."

"Dad you do know who Max is right?" Will asked.

"Who is Max?" I asked.

They all kept quiet. After what seemed like an eternity dad finally said, "Max is James' son."

Confused, I asked, "Is this James guy a former friend of yours or something?"

He shook is head and told me to follow him in his office.

"Wait! I don't want to miss this." Will said stuffing the rest of his sandwich in his mouth and standing up to follow us.

He and Alan came with us. Will and I sat down on the chairs that were in front of dad's work desk and Alan sat on the armrest of the couch behind us.

Dad looked to be in thought for sometime then said, "Before anything, I just want to say, I'm sorry."

And then he started the story.

Greg's POV:

I started to tell the story that I've said only once in my life. I remember those days very clearly. When Matthew was a mafia leader at the time.

{Flashback}

I watched, while cradling my daughter, as my wife, Lara paced back and forth trying to come up with a plan to protect our children.

Alan was only 2 years old and the twins were newly born. Only a couple weeks old.

"I think it's best if we keep them in an orphanage." Lara suddenly said.

"Lara, no. We can't do that." I said, putting Clarissa in her crib.

"We have to. It's the only way to keep them safe. We don't have much time. Matthew could attack any day and they are not safe here." She said.

"But we can't just give them in some orphanage. What if someone adopts them?"I reasoned.

"Then we can tell someone over there to make sure they don't get adopted." She said.

I shook my head.

"I still disagree. We can't do this. I understand that we have to protect them but this is not the way."

"Do you have a better way? Your siblings and parents are refusing to take them in because of danger. I'm telling you, this will work and no one will know that they where there. Just for a couple days."
