13: he's real

Sorry I've been gone so long I missed writing schools has just got me working so hard.

Kate

I ran around max's apartment like it was my own home. Not like the place I was living at now but I was actually at a place I could actually call home. I had been here so many times I knew where everything was and max never really complained much about me wondering his place.

"will you sit your ass down!" max shouted throwing a pillow at me as I wondered down the hallway to the living room. I caught a hold of it and jumped on the couch next to him throwing my legs over his.

"it feels like I haven't been here in forever!" I lied. I was trying to keep myself busy from thinking of Tyler and the way be was staring at the apartment only moments ago. How had he known where I was? Better yet how did he know I was in the certain apartment.

Max grabbed my arms and pulled me closer to him "you were here last week Kate.."

"I know but still I miss it here." It's true I loved this place. I wouldn't wanna leave unless I had to.

"oh Kate..." he sighed and removed my legs from on top of his.

"wait where are you going?" I asked quietly.

"some people worked today unlike you ms. I have amnesia" he smiled and poked my chin."I need to shower"

" oh oh okay" I smiled. Instantly my cheeks got red. Images flashed through my mind of cobey flooded my mind. His hands on my hips and water from multiple shower heads hitting our skin heating our bodies more then they already were.

"would you like to wait in the bedroom till I'm done so we can still talk?" he smiled.

"yea!" I rushed up I really didn't wanna be alone. Not with Tyler possible standing outside watching or getting closer.

He laughed at me as we walked down the hallways as I quickly looked into each room in the apartment as we passed them. "what's up with you it's like you've seen a ghost?"

I shut the bedroom door and locked it as we both slipped inside. "just a bad feeling".

Max walked up to me and slid his arms around me hugging me tightly. "Kate don't worry I'm here I won't let anything happen to you here and you know that." he grabbed my chin and made me look at him "as long as your with me nothing will hurt you." and with that he let go and walked into the bathroom. I stayed in place until I heard the shower turn on and I heard the curtains draw back into place.

I had seen what max looked like naked before but he deserved his own privacy.

Even though we were talking about small things I couldn't take my mind off the images of cobey come into my head.

He was in my head yet everytime we touched it felt so real. Then I thought back. He said his number was in my phone.

I pulled out my phone and clicked on contacts. There was nothing there under the name of cobey. I kept scrolling. I found it. At the bottom of my contacts was a number. No name just the number I had never seen before in my life. I stared. Slowly I clicked the options button and highlighted the call option. I clicked it.

I pulled the phone up to my ear. ring one I thought I was crazy ring two I thought this was stupid ring 3 I was gonna hang up but someone answered.

"you okay?" there was slight panick in his voice. "Kate?"

My breathing began to quicken. "cobey?"

"yes?"

I hung up the phone and threw it across the room. My head was spinning. Cobey was real.

I could hear my phone vibrating over And over again. I didn't run to get it I just watched it ring.

Max chose this time to walk out of the bathroom in a towel. "you gonna get the Kate?"

I sighed and tried to cover up my shock "no..no it's mom."

"oh I wouldn't answer that either." he smiled and picked up the phone putting it on mute and setting it on the dresser. He pulled out one of his big shirts and threw it at me as he dropped his towel and pulled on some boxers. Giving me a full view of his ass.

"really max?" I laughed as I pulled off my shirt and pulled on his. I slid off my jeans qnd pulled down the blankets.

"what it's not like you haven't seen me before?" He laughed.

"true" he pulled down his blankets and hit the lights on his bed side table. He turned off the bedroom light and crawled in next to me. His arms sliding around me ,His skin on mine.

I closed my eyes and sighed. "Just relax Kate no work tomorrow we can hang out all day."

"goodnight max" I opened my eyes and looked in the corner of the room. I could see bright glowing blue eyes staring at me and a tall muscled figure standing.

I would have screamed but I knew exactly who it was as I stared at his figure.

Cobey was watching me spoon with another man. The real cobey. Fear spread through out my body.

Max

I held Kate in my arms and I couldn't help but feel a smile spread across my face. I was in love with her. I kept my eyes closed in fear if I open them she might disappear. She was always so bright yet her life was so bad. I was gonna save her.

The drug addiction I had made me lose her. I was a messed up kid and though I had grown up and matured from that time she had yet to see the man I had become. The man That I could take care of her.

"kate..?" I whispered.

"yea" her reply was short and shaky.

"move in with me." wasn't a question yet it wasn't a demand. It was a choice. Either or wouldn't matter. But I had to take care of her.

As the words slipped out of my mouth I heard her gasp. As she did I also heard a loud growl come from the corner of the room and my entire body froze as I squeezed her tighter to me before I reached for the gun on in the open drawer of my night stand.
