A/N: Just letting you all know, there is some violence through this chapter.

Bea POV:

The car raced down the curving roads, I didn't know if I should be impressed or nervous at his driving abilities. He barley said anything to me, as I tried to get him to tell me what was wrong. His heart sounded in a bit of distress as his hands clinched and unclenched the leather steering wheel.

"Jace, if you tell me what's going on I can try to help-"

"No, you out of all people wouldn't be able to help me Bea." His voice hard as he cut me off.

That stung.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I looked directly at him even though he kept is eyes on the road. He didn't answer and it didn't seem like he was going to at this moment.

I sat back in the refined seat of his 1970's Ford Bronco and watched the brightly colored fall trees race pass. After too much silence got to me I pulled out my phone as a distraction. I noticed I had five messages from Beck, three from Hayden, and ten from my group message with Shelby and Lucy. I have clearly been out of the loop. I started with the first few that were from my twin.

Beck: "You need to get over here now, something is up."

Beck: "Where are you?"

Beck: "There is a problem."

Beck: "Seriously? Where are you? I'm covering your ass and dad is getting pissed. You owe me."

Beck: "Bea- I need you to answer right NOW. They're back."

My blood ran cold as I continued to read the other messages, all of them held the same context. I needed out of the car, I suddenly got the feeling for the need to shift. We came on to one of the small towns that was about forty-five minutes from the pack house. I could run faster and get there quicker than sitting in the car. A small gas station came into view, I could see the woods behind it.

"Pull off here." I ordered.

"What?—Bea, I told you I have to get back, I'll drop you o—"

"Look I know you have to get back, but I'm feeling sick and this car ride isn't helping. I'll call one of my friends." I lied. Hesitation flashed through his eyes as he finally looked at me.

"I'll be fine— just pull off." My voice hard now. He listened this time as he swiftly pulled into the gas station in an open space. I quickly hopped out of the truck I was about to close the door before his hand stopped it. I looked back to find him leaning over the passenger seat.

"Bea... I...." He seemed lost for words as he ran his hand over mine. "I'm sorry." His voice soft as his dark eyes boring into mine. I twined his fingers with mine and nodded, before reluctantly  stepping away. I closed the door he looked at me one last time before throwing the car in reverse and speeding away.

I made sure there was no one paying attention to me as I quickly moved to the back of the gas station and entered the woods. I shifted before sprinting into the direction of the pack house.

"Where were you?" Lucy entered my mind.

"We tried mind linking you, not sure why we didn't go through." Shelby's voice came through.

"I'm on my way to the pack house now." I said. I sped through the forest as fast as I could, dirt kicking up around me, the wind coursing through my fur.
