"(Y/N) I'm so happy you get to hang out with me some more!" Lewis smiles happily at you as you both had went out to the backyard to do some repairs to the gate.

"Me too, Lewis." You smile, but it fails as you realize it's dark and a few grunts are heard around the opposite side of the gate. What scared you to the core was: you could see them, and they saw you, but they didn't make a move towards you.

"Hey, it's alright. They can't really see you. Just don't scream. We still have to repair the gate." He told you, but that only put many bad scenarios in your head of how the zombies could get in.

You really don't remember how you fixed the gate with Lewis, but he was more relieved now. "Let's get a bit away from the gate now, don't want them to ruin what we've fixed, right?"

Not knowing what he was doing, you feel his warm fingers lace with yours. Immediately, (Y/N)'s (E/C) orbs shot over towards Lewis's. He just chuckled at your reaction.

He didn't want to push his luck, so he let go of your hand and gave a cheeky smile.

The hell?! Lewis, if you weren't such a cutie, I'd cave your face in with my fist.

You just smile. "Are you already trying to make moves on me? It's still my first night here." He rubbed the back of his neck. "No, not really -no offense. I... I just wanted to hold your hand, make sure you don't disappear.." he gives you a look almost close to that of a pout with puppy dog eyes.

"What, why would I disappear?" You ask, concerned.

People disappearing, does that happen a lot around here?

He looked around, almost making sure no one was listening, but he seemed like he didn't want to chance it.

"Come on, let's go somewhere more private." He held his hand out, asking you this time. Smiling, you gladly take his hand. Yes, it was rude of him, but he's worried about you. Worried you'll disappear, too, like the others.

Once safe in his room in the mansion, he turned and looked at (Y/N), wondering how to tell you without making you scared. "Lewis, you can tell me." You encourage him. After taking in a deep breath, then sighing he spoke,

"I think there's a flaw in the gates, including the mansion." He said bluntly. Fear was awaiting your return as it clutches at your heart, making it hard for you to breathe now.

"That doesn't sound good?" You question it. A flaw in the mansion? What does -

"Not too long ago the mansion's control system over the gate went haywire and opened the gates to the awaiting horde outside..." Lewis is trembling now.

So this place isn't safe, not even with the technology we have at our grasp.

"Kevin, Enzo, and the rest of us fought them off... But we lost over half of the others..." He looks down, holding his arm quiet tightly.

"I watched my best friend get eaten by one of those... Those -things! After Kevin saved me from becoming the next victim, I told him to let me die. I didn't think I could make it without my best friend next to me, us both helping each other through this... This madness..." He had tears running down his cheeks now.

You didn't realize you were joining those sorrowful tears. You knew what it felt like to lose someone who was a best friend to you, even if it was your father. "Lewis... I'm so sorry..." You quietly tell him.

"No... It's fine, please don't feel sorry for me. I'm here now, I'm still alive-" he laughs awkwardly.

"Like I said, there's a flaw in the gate, so... (Y/N), you don't need to be separated, no matter who gets the night shift in the backyard. Promise me, you won't wonder around this place alone." He begs. He looked like a broken boy right now to you.

Walking up to him and hugging him, you gently stroke his hair, comforting him. "I promise. I'm not going to disappear on you, Lewis. I'm going to bug you the whole way through this mess." You gently mess up his hair as he softly chuckles against your chest.

"Y-Yeah,-" he sniffles, "Can't have you leaving as quick as you c-came..." He stutters, his tears smudging against your shirt. This Lewis made you feel like you had to protect him.

He now was like a little brother to you. You had to protect him, he was so fragile. This made the motherly instincts in you act up.

No one is going to hurt my little potato. And I mean no one.
