Red does not symbolise Life. No, Red symbolises all the blood, all the pain our people have spilled on the streets of America for our right to love freely. We see Red on every street, because every street is a battlefield for the basic human right to not be murdered in the name of equality.

Orange does not symbolise Healing, it is the color of sirens we hear and see in our heads when someone comes at us with ill intent. It is the color of danger, the color we watch out for when we are in a public space. Orange sounds in our heads every day.

Yellow is not Sunshine, Yellow is the color of the sparks they sent though our bodies when we were aroused by the wrong picture. Yellow is the torture we had to endure, and still have to, since it is still legal to send electic sparks through children today.

Green is not Nature, Green is the envy we see when a straight couple is allowed to walk freely, without fear of their saftey, while we have to hide in the shadow of barely legal love. We see Green when a boy and a girl are free to make out so hard they cannot breathe, but we are not allowed to peck each other on the lips, or hold hands in public, without fear of being arrested for "pubic indecency".

Blue is not Harmony, Blue is the overwhelming depression we persevere through when we are told "It's just a phase," "You'll grow out of it," "You need Jesus," "You are an abomination," "I hate you,". We see Blue when we are hated by the people we trusted enough to share our deepest secrets with.

Purple does not mean Spirit, Purple is a representation of the silence our people endured during times when showing your love could get you imprisoned or killed. Purple is the gag that is automatically shoved in all our mouths, and only the bravest risk reaching down our throats to tear it out before we choke upon deathy cencorship.

Our Rainbow does not symbolise happy, baseless topics that anyone can support, our Rainbow represents our Strength, our Suffering, our Power to go through so much, and still have the capability to Love. We are Proud of our Rainbow, because our Rainbow is a banner of Survival. It is a direct representation of our accomplishments, and what we will accomplish in the future.
