Percy's POV
I sighed as I sat down at the kitchen table. My mom sat down across from me and placed her hand on mine. She gave me a sympathetic look and smiled at me.
"Percy, my sweet baby boy, talk to me" she said as I looked up at her,
"Mom, I miss Annabeth. I miss my second home at camp, but at the same time I want to stay here, but I'm not normal." I sighed and retracted my hand and buried my face in my hands.
She gasped, I moved my hands as she clutched her aquamarine colored blouse, "Blue food isn't normal. Blue food is STRANGE!," she gave me a mischievous smile and went over to the oven where cookies were baking "but that's why it's my favorite. I never want it to change"
I smiled a bit and stood up. She held herself in a very Shakespeare-esk pose and my smile grew bigger.
"Keep your chin up my baby!" she cheered. I looked over to the archway where my stepdad, Paul, stood. He had a small smile on his face as he joined my mom in the pose. I watched as my mom took the cookies and placed the tray on the windowsill to cool.
Paul moved out of the way to reveal a very familiar face.
"Annabeth!" I screamed and she ran into my arms. I picked her up and kissed her cheek. I smiled as she ruffled my hair and I put her back on the ground. She's only a three inches shorter, but that's off topic. "Why are you here?" I asked. She caught a cookie my mom tossed her and she bit it.
"I was in the area-"
Paul looked at me "More like your mom contacted her and set up a date to come spend the night-"
"Of course I asked Chiron, and since she was having nightmares he thought it would be fine. Plus ya'll are seventeen and need each other's company" Mom said. I smiled and nodded.
"Don't get so cocky, seaweed brain" she said whilst smiling.
I crossed my arms and looked at her "says the girl who almost got us killed because the sirens temptation was strong. Don't play with me wise girl".
She smiled and kissed my cheek handing me the half-eaten cookie she once held.
"welcome back, Annabeth"
"good to be back, Percy"
