lies laced his lips,
and like a bee
I kept on coming back
for more.
Oh I knew,
they were gold plated
broken promises.
Still they shined so bright,
tasted so sweet,
I couldn't stop my tongue
from licking his honey dripping lips

"Watch your back when you can't watch mine" -Billie Eilish
INDIFFERENCE IS THE TRUE WEAPON
Money. Sex. More sex and then more money. That's all that Vegas was about. Naked girls sitting in mens laps, wrapped around them like expensive jewellery most didn't have the money to pay for, teenagers swallowing pills like water and breathing coke lines like air and men playing with money like it was cards. Poker and strippers. Prostitutes and dealers. Casinos and flashy clothes. This wasn't New York.
However one night was all she needed to adapt. In less than a blink of an eye her whole posture changed; the previous sultry tone her voice held turned icy, the low cut dress turned into a formal one, her lips got tinted a darker red and her longs curls turned into a blond bob. The slight edge of innocence in her presence got lost and replaced by an overpowering ego.
-You can be everything you want to be, everything you need to be-
She looked at the woman in the mirror, the voice in her head reassuring her and reminding her she had been doing this her whole life. She looked much older now, the slight frown on her lips and the clouded veil in her eyes adding years to the young girl in red she had been in New York just two days prior. She had grown accustomed to being her; light and sensual, flirty words leaving her mouth and mischief shining in her eyes. Such a pity it was to have to let her go. She was fun. It didn't matter what she wanted though, she had to do what she needed to survive so she took the shiny clutch between her fingers and with a deep breath left behind the girl in red.

They were all staring at her. In a room full of naked women twerking and dancing on poles, they were all staring at the elegant lady she had become. In all the diamonds earrings and high cheekbones, long legs and smart mouth she was, she captured the attention of mosts men in the room, and if that wasn't enough the huge stack of money in front of her surely did the trick.
Money and sex together. She had it all and consequently had them all in the palm of her hand once again. Eyes staring and devouring her, watching every single movement, every rise of an eyebrow and all the little smirks colouring her lips in order to understand her actions. To understand her.
The trick was that nobody could. Because she wasn't her. She was everything they wanted her to be and what they desired the most was something they couldn't have, someone whose existence they couldn't quite grasps. With her poker face she could do nothing but win, she had learnt from the best after all.
-Never bluff. Bluffing gives other the idea you are hiding sometimes. A blank face my darling is the real secret. No emotions, no reactions. Indifference is the true weapon-
She played. With blank smiles and empty eyes she played them all with her poker face. With whisper of lust and a mirage of a touch she held them captor in her gaze, not letting their eyes wander where she didn't want them to be.
Breathe in. Breathe out. A finger on wrist, a pulse under her skin. An heartbeat and she was calm once again. She was alive.
She moved towards the bar, anxious to escape the gazes of hungry men she had fed all night long and excited for a margarita and a bit of privacy, for few deep breaths and silence. She had played well, she was sure of that but she couldn't shake the feeling that she hadn't played well enough. Someone was staring. Cold and calculating, intense and controlling. Not with lust or desire. She was shivering. She was shaking. Eyes. So many eyes watching her but who was seeing her?
First mistake.
She kept drinking her margarita, the tequila burning down her throat in attempt to eliminate the lump that had formed. Salty and tangy, just like she always had it. Icy like it was in all those hot days she denied it to her. A tremble of her lips. A flicker of melancholy in her eyes. She was alone now.
Second mistake.
Her gaze was fine on the clock. 01:34. He was late. He was never late. Where was he? What happened? Was he hurt? Was he tricked? Was he dead? What was she going to do? What did she have to do? Was she truly alone once again? Worry.
Third mistake.
"Pardon me miss, are you still up for another match?"
Golden hair, green eyes staring back at her. A soft smile and crisp clothes. He looked young, younger than her. Why did he want to play with her? Had he not seen the stack of money she had won? Was he so naive he thought he could win?
"No, I'm sorry. I don't want to play anymore, I must get going."
Fourth mistake.
