Mitches POV
I walked down the stairs to see Jerome already dressed in a hoodie and jeans. I quickly ran over to him wrapping my arms around his neck. "Hey. Happy anniversary" I smiled kissing his lips for a moment.
Jerome pulled away resting his hands on my waist. "Happy anniversary baby".
Though today was our anniversary the whole pack and decided to have a barbecue at our house. As soon as we pulled away there was a knock at the door. I quickly ran over opening the door to see Brandon and Matt holding four cases of beers and a massive bottle of vodka. It was moments like these I was glad I had juice to cut these drinks.
I laughed letting them in patting their backs at they walked out to the back yard. I chuckled. After university those two quickly got married. Matt and Brandon worked in the same school and boy was I glad Brandon wasn't my teacher. Apparently he was pretty strict with hand in times.
Suddenly almost as soon as they reached the backyard Alex and sam came rushing in holding pool toys galore as well as more fruits then poor Alex could carry. This may seem confusing but shortly after high school faith(now Alex) and ember(now sam) told us that they had been dealing with a internal battle and where both trans dudes. To be honest none of us where surprised. They both transitioned and have their dates set for top. I'm so happy that hey are feeling 100% themselves now. Alex had been working as a forensic pathologist for about a year now while sam was happily working as biologists mainly working in research of DNA and genes.
Once Alex set down the fruits Lachlan and vikk came strolling in holding hot dogs and hamburgers. I smiled letting them pass quickly giving them both a hug. Those two where happily engaged. Vikk was working as a computer coder while Lachlan had been working for a small company Microsoft for a while.
I looked around seeing Jerome out by the pool shoving sam into the water laughing as he came out screaming "YOU ASS HOLE". I chuckled as Preston and rob walked in. I gave Preston a tight hug. Rob tried to extend his hand but couldn't as he was holding a massive platter of cupcakes. These two got married first year of university which was crazy. I had to say. The weeding was crazy heh. I laughed telling them to put them in the backyard with everything else. I shut the door behind them following them to the back.
Sam and Alex where chilling in the pool in flamingo floaters while vikk has settled into the hot tub. Lachlan has started cooking rob quickly joking him.
Preston matt and Brandon where all having a small chitchat near the snacks. I was suddenly reminded of the day at the lake. The memory seemed so far yet so vivid. I smiled at the thought before turning around to grab a beer. I was suddenly greeted with Jerome staring at me with those loving eyes I fell for. I smiled crossing my arms. "Can I help you sir?" I asked.
Jerome nodded. The backyard went silent and my stomach dropped. Everyone gathered around up even sam and Alex had gotten out of the pool. "Mitch. We have been together for five years which is crazy. Seriously crazy. I remember the day I asked you out like it was yesterday. I was trying to convince you to stay after watching the hunger games and I didn't have to cause it had started raining. You started laughing and paying in the rain." My stomach flipped. What was he doing? "And now we are both adults. And we both want to start a future and I was wondering if you would wanna start one together?" He asked pulling a box out of his pocket getting down on one knee. "Mitch. Wanna get married?" He asked. He opened the box revealing two gold band rings.
By this point tears where streaming down my face. "Yes you dirty stinkin bacca yes!" I laughed holding out my hand for him to slip one onto. I quickly kissed him as he stood up ignoring all the cheers of our friends. This was the beginning of something new. Something amazing.
Time skip
As soon as food was finished we had all started playing music and drinking like we where in university. I laughed watching Alex's and sam make out against the pool.
I quickly jumped in coming up to see rob and Lachlan having a chugging competition. I laughed remembering every sleepover we all had where those two would decide to wrestle. They had to beat the other.
Preston and vikk sat on the side rolling there eyes continuing to talk. Jero-sorry. My husband to be was having a chat with matt and Alex who had come out of the pool leaving me and sam in the pool. I looked around for Brandon finding him grabbing another beer. I smiled suddenly feeling arms wrap around me.
I smiled. "Hey sam" I sighed.
Sam hugged my tighter. "We made it Mitch. This exact day five years ago you and I where hiding from bully's. You where being beaten by your dad. Look at us now" he sighed leaning his head against mine.
I nodded. "This is just the beginning Sammy. Their is so much we have left to do. This isn't the end to our story. It's just the climax" I chuckled.
Sam nodded. "Life's one hell of a game huh?" He asked
I nodded hugging him tightly. "One hell of a game" I sighed.
