"Keep the water in the tub, Jasmine," Perrie says exasperated.
Jade watches from behind Perrie, snickering softly. Perrie kneels in a puddle of water their daughter managed to get out of the tub. Jasmine happily ignores her mum as she splashes. She giggles.
"Come on, time to get out," Perrie says.
Jasmine tears her attention away from her toys to look at Perrie with horror. "No!" she exclaims. "More play.'
Jade purses her lips together to prevent her from outright laughing. She shakes her head fondly; Jasmine loves the water so much that getting her out of the bath is a struggle.
Perrie stands up to grab a towel. "I know you want to play more, but it's time to get out. Mummy's going to read your bedtime stories tonight," she coaxes. "You want that, don't you?"
Jasmine looks in between the water she's sitting in and the towel Perrie's holding before she looks up at Jade. "With the voices?" She asks.
"With the voices," Jade confirms.
Jasmine glances back down at the water. "But splash," She says.
Perrie looks at Jade with pleading eyes. Jade's always been able to coax Jasmine out of the water better and quicker than Perrie can. "You can splash tomorrow," Jade assures her. "With your cousins. Alright?"
Finally satisfied, Jasmine stands in the tub and allows Perrie to wrap her up in the towel. Perrie picks Jasmine up easily. She leans down and unplug the tub before she heads towards Jasmine's room.
"Mummy!" Jasmine calls.
Jade smiles as she makes her way towards Jasmine's room. The room isn't too big or too small; they had made sure of that when they bought their house. They had commissioned Jesy Nelson to paint the room when they found out they were having a girl, and then again when they found out about their son.
There's a beautiful woodland scene painted on the walls of Jasmine's room. Jade had admired Jesy's skills when she first saw it and the admiration for it has yet to wear off, years later. For now, she doesn't have time to spare it more than a passing thought.
"Mummy!" Jasmine cheers when she sees her. She gestures to Jade's stomach. "Baby?"
Jade sits next to Jasmine on the bed. "I thought you wanted a story," When Jasmine just looks up at her with pleading eyes, Jade smiles. "Of course you can. Remember to be gentle."
Jasmine smiles brightly as she cuddles up against Jade, putting her ear against Jade's large belly. She's quiet for a few moments. Then she pulls away. "I hear him."
Jade smooths down Jasmine's still damp hair. "He's probably sleeping. You can listen more tomorrow," Jade says. "Now, did you pick out your story?"
Jasmine picks up the book from beside her, showing it to Jade proudly. Jade takes it from her. She smiles at the book.
Jade waits until Jasmine slips further down in her bed. She looks up expectantly at her. Jade smiles and starts to read.
It takes four stories before Jasmine falls asleep, two more than normal. Perrie offers her a hand and pulls her up. Jade stands at the door as Perrie leans down and presses a kiss to Jasmine's forehead. She pulls the covers around her. Jade turns off the light as Perrie wraps an arm around her waist.
"Let's go to bed," Perrie whispers. "I'll give you a foot massage."
Perrie leads her down the hallway towards their bedroom. They quietly change into bed clothes. Jade slower than Perrie. She's waiting on her by the time she gets into bed.
Perrie waits until Jade gets comfortable before she moves down and picks up a swollen foot. Jade moans in relief as she starts to massage. Jade's feet ache from the walking she's done today. When she looks at Perrie, she's smirking at her. "Like you wouldn't do the same in my position!" she tells her. "I haven't had the chance to ask, but how was your day?"
Perrie talks about her day at work and her friends that she works with. She smiles as she speaks, but she doesn't stop rubbing her feet.
Jade masks a grimace as the baby kicks against her ribs. Perrie looks up at her with a frown.
"Is he kicking again?" Perrie asks worriedly.
Jade nods. "He's kicking his favourite target; my ribs." She says. She was lucky with Jasmine; she only kicked her ribs twice.
Perrie moves up from her position at her feet and places a hand on Jade's stomach. "Hey little guy," she whispers, "Mummy doesn't like it when you kick her ribs. Maybe you could stop that, huh? How does that sound?"
Jade smiles as Perrie talks to her stomach. She never imagined Perrie would be this caring when she first got pregnant with Jasmine. Now, being pregnant with her second, she finds the way Perrie makes sure to always talk to the baby endearing.
Perrie pulls away. "We don't have too much longer before he's here," she says.
Jade nods. "I hope he'll be as easy as Jasmine," she says. "She was such an easy baby."
Perrie kisses her. "Whether he's easy or not, we'll figure something out. I'm sure Leigh-Anne and Jesy will be happy to give us a hand."
Jade was reminded of why she fell in love with Perrie. She kisses her again. "I love you," she murmurs against her lips.
Perrie pulls away, "I love you too. Get some rest or you'll be tired in the morning."
