After the hospital called Alexa's parents, her dad posts to Facebook :

Please pray for my strong girl, Alexa. Hang in there Bubs you'll see us soon. We won't test till we find the prick that did this to you.
Her mum shares it to her timeline. They sit Alexa's older brother down and tell him. He gets angry and upset but he's speechless.
Alexa's mum calls Jack's parents unaware of the recent breakup and unaware that Jack's parents didn't know that Alexa was over. Jack's mum and dad arrive home to tell Jack the sudden news.
Jack comes down the stairs, one step at a time. His mum and dad are sitting down with his brother and sister-in-law as well as Jack's sister. He sits down confused and concerned.
' Jack....Alexa has been taken into hospital. And she needs surgery. '
Jack's heart stops in an instant. He didn't know how to react. He wasn't going to say that they broke up. Not yet anyway. He looks at his mum and at his dad. Eyes starting to water.
' how ? Why ? ' he eventually choked up.
' She was attacked and stabbed in the leg. The doctors don't know wether it hit a main vein or not. She needs the surgery as when they were taking out the knife, some of the blade snapped off and staying buried in her leg. '
Jack looked down at the floor unable to speak. His dad mentioned jack can go in and see her after the surgery. Jack denies and states that he won't be able to cope seeing her in that state. He runs upstairs and closes his bedroom door. he lays on his bed cuddling his teddy and thinking it's all his fault. Alexa was a self harmer after all. He shouldn't of let her leave. Not by herself. Not at all. He curled up in a ball and started to cry.
Half an hour passes and Jack's brother comes to his room and reminds him about a hospital appointment he has soon. Jack just nods, keeping his eyes shut. After a few minutes, he gets up and goes downstairs to where the whole family is going with him. More for the support from the recent events. As Jack's in the car, he gets a thought,
What if I see Alexa at this hospital?
