Chapter 59

*Stiles POV*

We separated Ava and Ratman, so they can't talk or come up with a plan.

I walked into Ava's room. "So," I started, "Are you gonna help us?" I asked.

She hung her head, "You know I can't, Stiles."

"You saw what we almost did to Janson, we can do it to you too." I said, "And Scott isn't here this time,"

She shrugged, and said, "Go ahead, do it."

I sighed, "I know you're better than him. He is ruthless and cruel. But you can make up for the things you've done, by helping us."

She nodded, "Okay, what do I need to do?"

We untied Ava but we kept a close eye on her. I gave her the thing I got from the compound.

"Okay, so there is a micro chip in your neck. It causes us to be able to send a magnetic wave to your brain." Ava said.

I understood exactly what she said. But apparently Newt didn't. "English please." He said.

I turned to him, "She means, there's something in our necks that they can sue to make us hear and see things that aren't really there."

"Very good, Stiles." Ava said. I rolled my eyes, "We're not in a science class or something, just get to the point."

"I need to prick your necks and use the scanner to remove it," Ava said.

"What if this is a trick?" Minho asked, he was there for... actually I don't know why he was there, he just was.

"Yeah," Newt said, "What if she's trying to get blood samples or something."

I looked at Ava, I don't know why, but I trusted her. "I trust her." I said. Minho pulled me to the side, "What if she's using that...thing, to get to you, and make you think she's trustworthy." He asked.

The thought made me feel cold inside. I hadn't thought of that, what if she was doing that. I looked at her, but she couldn't, she was right next to us.

But maybe.... I bolted out of the room and into Ratman's room. He was sitting there with a scowl.

I went back to the room we were in. "He's not doing anything." I said.

"Let's get this over with. I'm starting to get a head ache." Newt said. Now that I thought about it, Newt was right.

I did have a headache.

"What are you doing to us?" I asked Ava. "What do you mean? I'm not doing anything!" She exclaimed.

Suddenly my headache got 10 times worse and I put my hand over my ears, as if that would do anything.

I looked up for just a second to notice Newt doing the same. Then the pounding increased, I fell to the floor. My vision began to blur.

I heard Minho shouting, "What are you doing to them?!"

I mustered enough strength to look up and see Minho holding Ava by the neck. Then I collapsed back in the ground.

"Look! Now they both passed out!" Minho yelled. "We have to get one of them to tell us what is happening." Ava said.

When I looked up I saw Minho and Ava telling Newt to wake up. He must of passed out.

Lucky, I thought. He doesn't have to deal with this.

I knew I had to let them know I'm awake. "Minho." I said, quietly.

He didn't hear me, "Minho," I said, louder this time. He turned around to face me.

"Stiles!" He said, "You're awake."

"Yep." I said, sitting up. The headache was starting to subside, but it was replaced with a wave of dizziness.

I put my hand on my head. "Go get him an ice pack and water." Minho told Ava. She rushed out of the room.

Minho next down next to me. "You okay?" He asked.

"Not okay." I said, "But slightly better."

Minho nodded, "That's good."

"So, what happened?" He asked. " I don't really know." I replied.

"It was like, one second I'm fine, but when Newt mentioned a headache I started to get one too." I said, "Then it just kept getting worse."

Ava walked in with a glass of water, "I couldn't find an ice pack." She said as she handed me the water.

I drank it and it made me feel a little better.

Suddenly I heard a groan from across the room. I looked and saw Newt sitting up. "How you feeling?" I asked him. "Like crap." He said. I laughed, "Same."

"So, now lets get this over with." Newt said.

I was first. I sat on a chair with Ava behind me. She hand a little metals tool and the scanner. "This might hurt a bit." She said. I nodded, I got this.

She picked up her tool but the second the cool metal touched my skin, I heard a voice. "Stilessss."

The nogitsonine...

I jolted out of the chair and was across the room in a second. The three of them looked at me, "What's wrong?" Minho asked.

"No one else heard that?" I asked, just to be sure." They all shook they're heads.

"Whoever is doing this is trying to keep me from taking that out." Ava said.

I made my way back to the chair and Newt smiled at me, reassuring me, "Just ignore it."

I nodded at him, and sat down. Ava tried again but the second she began, I didn't just hear the nogitsonine, I saw him. I flinched at the sight of him, but tried my best to stay still. I looked at Newt and he nodded at me.

All the memories of the nogitsonine flooded back. All the people I killed, Allison...

I tried to push that away. I just looked at my lap and tried my best to ignore it.

Then I heard a voice, a very familiar voice. I looked up and saw my mom.

"You killed me!" She yelled in my face. I flinched at her words. She kept repeating it, over and over.

Until finally, I couldn't take it. I broke down and fell to the floor, sobbing. I immediately felt someone grab me. It was Newt.

"Hey, it's okay." He said.

*Newt POV*

There's no way Stiles saw the nogitsonine that time. He wouldn't have reacted the way he did. But what else would he have seen?

Then I remembered the only other time he cried like that. Way back when he just came to the maze.

When Alby has mentioned his mom....

This is gonna be a long day.
