Chapter Twenty-three
Providence
"Home at last," Sam said as she and the other lady's prepared to leave the railroad car. The car along with several cattle cars were being moved to a side track near the depot where Sam and Jake kept the car when not in use. Jake was nice enough to give up his space so all four lady's could have the comfort of the car to travel to Providence in.
"Yes," Alyssa said. "Harriet, Dusty and I will take you to the hotel and introduce you to Kevin Peabody and get you settled in then go on to our house here in town and spend the night before leaving with Sam and Jake in the morning to pick up Tanner at their ranch."
"I hope I can learn everything I need to know to be able to manage the hotel for you," Harriet told Alyssa.
"I have no doubts Harriet that you will," Alyssa told her.
"And once Mother knows we are back we are sure she will throw Nate and Blythe that big party and use our house to do so, so we will be seeing you then if not before Harriet," Sam told her.
"Thank you so much for everything," Harriet told Sam. "I will look forward to the party."
"Just remember Mother and Jim live here in town as does my Aunt Martha and Uncle Henry which Mother will introduce you to soon. Don't forget too you have many friends here so if you need anything just let one of us know."
"I will dont worry," Harriet replied.
"Providence is a lot larger then Brookton is," Grace said looking out the car window at the town. Sam and Jake were taking Grace on to the Rocking R in the morning they talked about paying Grace to help Lady Stafford with the school and finish her own education as well.
"Yes it is," Harriet agreed as she came to stand next to Grace and view the town she would now make her home.
"They are finished moving the car now, Mrs. Morgan," Cyrus told her. "I will see that all the bags are sent on to the house."
"Thank you, and as usual you did a great job of looking after us," Sam told him.
As Sam stepped off the car first the smiling faces of Jake, Dusty and Sean were there to greet them.
"Glad to be home?" Jake asked her.
"Yes, and I can't wait to get to the ranch," she replied then took Grace's hand as they walked from the depot toward their house in town.
"And I want to see how the house is coming along," Jake told her.
"This is just so exciting," Grace told them. "Thank you again for bring me here with you."
"We are glad to have you, Grace," Jake told her. "I am sure Lady Stafford will like having help with the school."
"I hope she likes me," Grace told them.
"Of course she will," Sam replied to the young woman. "It is a good thing you know how to ride a horse. Later I will take you to the general store and we can purchase you some riding clothes and boots."

"Damn is it good to be home," Dusty said when Alyssa stepped off the railroad car followed by Harriet.
"Yes it is," Alyssa replied.
"Sean and I will see to the horses and then come on to the hotel," Dusty told Alyssa and Harriet.
"And I will bring your bags and boxes there for you, Harriet," Sean added.
"Thank you," a smiling Harriet replied.
