Chapter Eleven

Garrett Ranch

"Good Morning," Nate told Blythe when he entered the ranch house. Since she was the only one in the kitchen he turned her around took her in his arms and gave her a heated kiss. "Maybe we should think about moving the date of our marriage up. It becomes harder everyday to stop with just a kiss Blythe.".

Blythe leaned back in his arms to look up at him. "I know," she told him. "I had hoped when the others returned from Moorshead this would soon be over."

"I know Dusty, Steve and Sean did their best to follow that man. I kept wondering as I went to bed last night if he knew they followed him and deliberately set out to throw them off his trail."

"Chad said the same thing last night before I went on to bed," she replied. "When would you like to get married?"

"Five minutes ago," he teased her. "What about the day after tomorrow or is that too soon. We could ride into town today and speak with the pastor."

"Day after tomorrow suits me just fine," Blythe said smiling she thought how much she loved Nate Gregory. She already knew which of the dresses Nate had brought for her in Cheyenne she would wear for her wedding.

When the others came in for breakfast Nate and Blythe told them of their change of plans and riding into Brookton after breakfast. Nate asked Jim, Jake, Dusty, Steve and Luke to be his best men.

And Blythe knew the women shed asked to be her bridesmaids...well matron of honors since all three of them were married but Brookton didn't know that.

"How do I look?" Grace asked Harriet when she showed up to work early the next morning all smiles."I can't believe you purchased three dresses for me along with the undergarments."

"You look nice," Harriet told her smiling. "And I didn't purchase them Miss Sam and Miss Dallas did I just picked out what you needed." Besides the three dresses and undergarments Harriet had purchase a new pair of half boots and socks for Grace.

"Will I get to meet the others soon?"

"They are still asleep but should wake around ten so we need to get things ready for their breakfast and what I decided to make for lunch. You can start with washing the dishes that piled up last night after I went on to bed then move on to peeling that sack of potatoes."

"Yes, ma'am," Grace said and started putting water on to boil for the dishes and rinse water.

As Harriet kneaded the bread she watched as Grace scraped off the plates into a scrap bucket and then put them in the dishpan then added some soap and last the water now hot from the stove. "Do you think Mrs. Tidwell would be interested in making the bread we need here each day, we'd pay her of course and furnish all the supplies she would need," Harriet asked Grace as they worked.

"Oh yes," Grace replied. "I'm sure she would."

"It wouldnt be too much with all the children she has will it?"

"No ma'am, she has Belinda and Billy the oldest to help look after the younger ones now that I'm working."

"I thought after lunch we could go speak with her then return to clean up and start dinner. I plan on baking several chickens along with making some dressing to go with them."

"Oh that sounds delicious," Grace told her. "I'm sure Mrs. Tidwell will accept your offer Miss Harriet."

"Good morning Harriet," Sean said coming out of his bedroom and heading to the bath upstairs later that morning.
