Chapter Twenty-Four

Providence Several Months Later

"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride," Pastor Litchfield told the happy couple.

Sean raised the veil and kissed Harriet soundly to hoots and hollers coming from those there to witness the nuptials along with a few loud whistles thrown in now and then as well.

"Now that you two tied the knot lets go eat," someone shouted as others broke into laughter.

Everyone slowly made their way to the fellowship hall where tables of food and sweets were laid out along with a huge wedding cake the bride and groom would cut later.

"I told Sean if he didn't hurry up and marry Harriet none of us would be able to make it to the wedding," Sam said to her two friends as they walked over to the fellowship hall from the church. She rested her hand on her large stomach as she walked talking with Alyssa and Blythe.

"She looked so beautiful," Alyssa said. "It was nice of you and Jake to send her to San Francisco and the dressmaker there for her wedding dress. She said she had a marvelous time with Julie and Jim showing her around the town."

"And Jackie looked so cute standing up there as Harriet's bridesmaid. So where are they going for their honeymoon?" Blythe asked and she put a hand to her aching back.

"He said he was taking her to Austin for two weeks. Jackie was cute and I thought Logan took his responsibilities as best man rather serious," Sam replied with a smile then looked toward Blythe. "Are you all right?"

"Just the usual sore back," Blythe answered. "But how do you feel carrying those twins of yours?"

"I just feel fine until they both decide it is time to kick me in the ribs," Sam replied. "I think by the time they come they will have broken at least one of them."

"I can't believe you are having twins," Alyssa said then smiled at her friend. "But I am glad it is you and not me."

"Some friend you are," Sam replied and returned the smile. "Jake thinks it will be one of each and I think it is two boys by the way they kick especially at night when I am trying to sleep."

"Over there is a table we can sit at and let our husbands get us some food," Blythe told the other two and the three ladies migrated toward the table.

"How is that new hotel manager of yours doing?" Sam asked Alyssa as they walked to the table.

"She is working out just fine, I am glad Harriet took the time to train her for me."

"Well ladies we need to find Luke and Steve each a wife," Alyssa said once they were seated. "Maybe even Buck."

"Buck swears he will never marry, says he is too old now to think about starting a family. He just wants to help Jake and I raise these two and be Uncle Buck to them," Sam replied.

"And Nate doesn't think Steve will after the loss of his wife years ago," Blythe told them. "He seems content raising those Appaloosas of his alone on his ranch."

"Well what about Luke then?" Sam asked Blythe.

"He is content to be Nate's foreman," she answered Sam back.

"So what are you three talking about," Julie said coming up to them to join them at the table.

"How we need to find three men we know each a wife, Mother," Sam answered her.

"I have come to the conclusion that they will find wives in their own good time. Besides we have introduced them to just about every marriageable woman in town and those three were not interested in any of them," Julie told the ladies.
