It was early in the morning. The sun had not yet touched it's fingertips onto Neo Riot City.
Carol, was awake. How could she sleep? Laserblast was gone, and with him Silver Spark’s, strength. Many things had changed for her. Her trust in El Bow, and her general place in POINT HQ. Unable to do her duties while in grief, Foxtail herself offered Carol time off to think. She begrudgingly took it, and only hoped that she would ever get over her lost love.
To get away, she bought out a few weeks in a motel. Tears streaming down her sleepless eyes, she regrettably watched a happy scene from a romance film.
Oh Laser, that could've been us. If only you could've done stayed a little longer!
The waterworks pushed another wave of tears all over her cheeks and hands as she wiped them away.
That could've been us…
Outside of the moment, her cell phone started to buzz. She was in no mood to talk to anybody, so she just left it to ring until silence. It did so, but then began to ring again. Skeptical as to who could be calling this early so vigorously, she finally decided to look who was calling. It was Foxtail.
What could she be calling about at this hour?
She sighed.
Well if I answer I should probably try to get myself sounding less drained.Silver Spark sat up and wiped her tears away one last time. She picked up her vibrating phone and answered the call.
“SILVER SPARK! Thank GOODNESS! You answered!” Foxtail barked through the phone. The noise shook Carol with it's sudden shout and urgency. An explosion could be heard.
“What happened?! Why did you call me!?” Carol took the call more seriously now.
“There’s a powerful monster causing chaos nearby HQ! I know you're off duty but this thing keeps knocking us down! We are low on numbers! Can you get here?!” Foxtail boomed. Carol stood up in bed.
“I'm on my way!” She said.
“That's the spirit!” Foxtail hung up.
Carol was frightened and excited all at the same time. Battles were POINT’s bread and butter, but they needed backup from an emotionally unstable JR member today? As she put on her costume in an anticipation montage she wondered if she should be afraid.
Whatever happens, happens, but nobody can make things happen if they don't believe in themselves first!
She decided to just stick with that philosophy, and before she knew it she was on the road. Traffic was dense, but she had to maneuver around them to get deeper into the city. Carol stopped the car suddenly in front of HQ.
She said it would be nearby…
She stuck her head of the window and looked out and up. Skyscrapers were burning in the distance.
“No way…” She breathed. It almost never got this bad. Carol shifted her car back into drive and sped up as quick as she could in the direction of the flaming buildings. When she arrived the residents were scattering around the sidewalks and roads. She was going to ask one of them if they knew where POINT was, but it seemed POINT was coming to her. Foxtail had just been shot through a glass window about 40 stories up.
“Ah!” Silver Spark was going to have to catch her. She predicted where Foxtail would land, and then stood there till she was able to jump up and grab her. Foxtail wasn't carrying her own weight too well, but she wasn't passed out quite yet.
“Glad you could make it hun,” She smiled weakly. Foxtail tried to pick up her weight more, but still had to lean on Carol.
Up where she had fallen from, more glass broke. The 40th floor was starting to cave in on itself.
