The Pack

Chapter 12

The Summer of 1998

It was now summer break of 1998 but even thought it was summer there was so much rain as though it was still spring. Unbelievable amounts of rain fell. I would imagine Kazuo would be enjoying himself. The rain cools the heat in his body from his thick skin and fur. I too loved the rain. 

I though, wanted to know more about Kazuo. I wanted to know everything. 

The first morning of summer vacation Kazuo took me out on a drive. As we sat in the car i stared at him.

"I know you have something you wanna say, so I'm not stopping you. Ask away." He said not even looking at me.

"I want to know, your life....werewolves...there existence i just wanna know." I said not taking my eyes off of him.

He smirked and  "fear enough." was all he said.

He parked the car in the parking lot and we went into the forest. Looking at him he seemed at home. I knew he was not exactly human but i did not understand why. That much i wanted to know. We came to a little came and we sat in there as the rain began to fall yet again.

"So you want to know about me?" Kazuo asked a bit hesitant.

"Yes i do." I said. 

"What would you do if you knew. Tell everyone about me?" Kazuo said without looking at me. He said became very serious.

"You would think that of he." I responed, "Who would believe me?"

"Everyone." He replied, "Touhou and Asakura is aware of the existence of both were wolves and vampires. Over the centuries they have kept it a secret from the outside world, in exchange the werewolves must protect the people from the vampires, but as time passed that secret died with the old people and the young generation up to your great grandfather is unaware of the existence on werewolves and vampire. Still they will believe you. Fear is fueled by the unknown. Because the people forgot we never bothered to revisit the matter...."

"But you continued to protect them." I said.

"Yes. They did us a favor by allowing the generations to come, to never know of our existence." Kazuo said. 

"But now i know, and i want to know everything. If i am to stay with you i at least want to know you." I sighed and looked at him.

He stared me in my eyes, then spoke "They say werewolves were created to protect the earth from the evil of vampires, a creatures of the devil. That why we are stronger, faster; we can pick up there scent a great distance away; we were designed to hunt them and they are the most dangerous prey." His words seem scary as though he intentionally wanted me to be afraid of him. 

Then he continued, "There are two packs that live in this area the Moonstones and the Riverstones. The Riverstone Pack territory is Touhou village and the Moonstone Pack which is pack i belong too, our territory id the Asakura DIstrict."

"I see tell me something about being a werewolf, what is that like?" I asked him. 

In that moment the rain had finally let up allowing us to leave the cave. Kazuo was the first to walk out and i followed behind him. He stopped and looked up at the sky, his eyes closed as he breathe in rain filled air. We continued to walk into the forest then Kazuo began to speak to me. 

"We are born werewolves, we are born as pups, its only when we are a year old we take a human form. We are born away from the pack and are introduced a week after our eyes open. Every member of the pack becomes our family and we are to follow the rules of the Alpha. In situations such as there are two packs in close range such as this. There is an Alpha and an Omega. The Alpha is the lead, my pack has the Alpha and so we control a larger territory, The Riverstone Pack has the Omega and the Omega, and they are subjected to our Alpha. They're not too happy about it at times. So not all the times the too Pack get along. But for the place as Alpha the lead of both packs fight until one is victorios and granted the crowned name Wilderbeast. My loyalty must first ly with the Pack. My duties are to hunt vampires. Vampires are difficult to hunt unlike werewolves they never stay in one place, they are born among the humans and carry a human scent from birth but as their vampirism awaken we can't spot them, and so even though they would attempt to enter werewolf territory to hunt humans we kill them." He ended.

"Have you ever killed." Not sure i want to know the answer.

"Yes of course i have, they carry us on hunts after our first new moon. We must learn to run with the pack or we will die, but we don't get to attack not until we are about ten years old. So we must watch and observe because we will be the ones training the new members of the pack. The Alpha never trains and the cubs of teh Alpha rarely ever see him." Kazuo said. His tone epxress his familiarity with the situation. Then he continued, "If you want to know this you have to learn to run with the pack as i have. You will not be allowed close to the pack unless you know how to fight. I will not allow that." He turned to me and looked me in the eyes, "I have to protect you, and i'm gonna do it the best way i know how. If you don't know how to fight you will learn now. So get ready." 

Running with wolf how hard could that be. I am human the probability of that happening is ZERO.
