An hour later, I was done half the song and was bored as hell. Cleo and Seth were still on their "date but not a date", and the rest of the guys went out with out telling me. So I was all alone in the hotel with nothing to do and no one to talk to.
I called Marcus to see if anything was scheduled for today but he never picked up. A minute later he texted back saying 'I'm busy, call you later. Oh, and meet up at the studio at 4:00 BIG news.' Sighing I put my phone back in my pocket and began pacing the room. Then it clicked. I quickly grabbed the car keys and was out the door. When I was in the car, I quickly sent a text to the guys telling them where to meet up.
We were going to the beach.
*****
I was sitting on a beach chair facing the sun; eyes closed, shades on. I could hear the waves crashing, seagulls squawking, and even the laughter of children made its way into my ears. The relaxing feeling I got just sitting here was amazing. I didn't have to worry about when my next CD signing was or how to finish that song. I could just sit here and be at peace.
I was in a secluded part of the beach, enjoying the sun, when I was unexpectedly pushed face first into the sand. I looked up to glare at the boys who had just arrived and made sure to send my death stare to Cleo who was giggling in the background. Who invited her? Certainly not me.
I got up, dusting my self and decided I was going to ignore their obnoxious behaviours. So I crawled back into my chair, grabbed my sun glasses and went back to my carefree thinking. "Lets go for a dip." I heard someone say in the background, followed by a chorus of cheers and a splash.
I was just starting to doze off when a shadow blocked my sun, I took off my shades and squinted to see an overly happy Cleo. I groaned inwardly. Her hair was dripping and landing on my shirt, which she didn't seem to notice. I got up from my seat, stretched out my arms and let out a yawn. I spared a glance back in her direction to see she was staring at me intently.
"What?" I said rather rudely.
"You're so boring." She exclaimed.
I scoffed. Me? Boring? She obviously knew nothing about me. I was the definition of fun.
"You are." She added hurriedly. "All you do is sulk all day, and frown whenever you have the chance. I don't think I've ever seen you smile. I know its not in your nature but why don't you try letting lose once in a while."
"You don't know me." I shot back at her. "So stop acting like you do." And with that I got up and starting walking away. "Where are you going?" I heard her yell. Away from you, I thought. Those few words really pissed me off for some reason, I can be fun. I am fun. I corrected myself. I'll show her.
I looked around to see Aaron and Cole having a splash fest, Seth was reading a book in a small shaded area and Joel was showing off his toned muscles to Cleo. I found a lone bucket on the shore and picked it up. I scooped some water up and found a place on the sand to sit.
I repeatedly made multiple mountains, adding water and patting them down. "What are you doing?" I looked up to see Aaron and Cole. "Building a sand castle." I replied, in which they burst into laughter. "What?" I asked irritated. "Dude, that is not a sand castle." Cole said wiping tears from his eyes. I looked back to examine my work, one side was drooping and it looked more like hills than a sandcastle. Smashing it under my fist I let out a frustrated sigh.
"Whats up with you Mr.Grumpy Pants?" Joel now appeared by my side, Cleo no where in site. "Trying to have fun" I mumbled, and failing, I added that in my head. Joel stretched out his hand, helping to pull me up. "Dude if you wanted to have fun, just say so." He grinned evilly. I arched an eyebrow, questioning his sanity. He pointed his finger to the chair I had occupied only moments before, but now a new body rested in it. Cleo.
