My excitement soon turned into anger, "why didn't you tell us?" I demanded. Cleo looked at me with a exasperated look on her face, "I didn't think it mattered." I glared at her, how could she think that her identity wasn't important? "I knew there was something off about you from the beginning." I said shaking my head.
"Excuse me, but who I am is none of your business. Its not like you were waiting for me to indulge all my secrets to you." She said, her voice slowly rising.
"Why was it a secret from the begging?" Aaron asked kindly.
"It wasn't." Cleo huffed. "I just didn't want you to think I was a fake or using you because my mom is some big name in this industry."
"Oh well that explains it." I said, the sarcasm dripping from my voice. With one last glare in Cleo's direction, I got up from the couch and stormed to my room. How could the guys be taking this so lightly? I mean, the girl practically lied to us. I could hear the soft murmurs of voices coming from the living room, so I grabbed my guitar and walked out onto the balcony.
I missed my simpler life. My family, my friends and everyone back home. I started strumming the new song I was working on and singing along to the lyrics not noticing that someone had joined me in the cool night breeze. As it came to end, a voice spoke up from behind me. "That song was amazing." I turned to see Cleo's face looking at me intently.
Sighing, I thanked her instead starting another argument. "What are you doing here?" I asked after a complete awkward silence."I don't know." She said smiling at the floor. Her hair was falling around her face and I resisted the urge to brush it out of the way. She looked up at me through her lashes, her green eyes gleaming in the dark. "I'm sorry." She said seriously. I nodded instead of speaking and turned back to watch the waves crash against the shore.
I thought she had gone back inside until she grabbed a chair and sat next to me. "Its beautiful." I looked at her confused, "the waves." she said motioning to the beach. "Its weird how something so pretty can hold so much power."
I thought that through in my mind for a little, and couldn't help but agree. "Just goes to show you not to judge something on how it looks." I replied in a low voice. She chuckled at that. Arching an eyebrow at her reaction, she elaborated. "Sorry, Its just funny you would say that." She said. "Why is that?" I replied to her coolly. Did she think I was some idiot? "Because isn't that exactly what you did to me?" She asked, hurt in her eyes. I looked at her as understanding dawned on me. For some reason I couldn't form any words.
I know I wasn't treating her very well, but I had reasons. Its hard for me to just let anyone in. Cleo's face went back to normal and stood up. "Its getting cold, I'm going to head in." She said. "Wait." I stood as well and grabbed her arm. "Whats the real reason you didn't tell us." I whispered, my face so close, our noses were almost touching. She sighed, "I honestly don't know. I thought you knew who I was when you first saw me. That's why I didn't react as you thought I would. I'm used to meeting famous people and famous people befriending me because of who my mom is."
She looked at me, her eyes willing me to understand. I was caught of guard by the amount of emotion displayed on her face. I nodded slowly, and backed up breaking the spell that had me wanting to close the few inches between us. "I believe you." I muttered and then turned to grab my guitar and went inside. I don't know if I was going soft or if this girl was messing with my head but something definitely wasn't right with me.

The next morning I walked into the living room to see the boys sitting around reading some sort of magazine. Wondering what they were looking at, I made my way towards them. "Hey, whats got you guys so interested this morning?" I asked. Four pairs of eyes turned to look at me. "Did you know Seth has a girlfriend?" Aaron said, obviously upset by something. I looked at Seth who had a slight blush creeping across cheeks and a smug grin on his face. "Nooo.." I said trailing off, "Since when were you dating someone we didn't know about?" I asked. "See for yourself." Joel said, shoving the magazine into my face.
