A/N: Thank you for 100 reads!
Tonight, Kim Taehyung had made the most dangerous and idiotic mistake of his life. He had deliberated all day about the riskiest decision he'd ever make.
He was going to sneak out of the house.
After he told his mother goodnight, he sat on the edge of his bed, twirling the cord of his oxygen tank between his fingers. All he could think of was meeting Jeongguk again. He tried to ignore the throb in his ankle, but it had been growing stronger since the previous day.
At around 4:30 am, he quietly picked up his tank, struggling to walk down the stairs. Slipping under the chain, he trotted to Jeongguk's house. Once he reached the front door, he gently knocked, waiting.
Jeongguk appeared moments later, hair wildly sticking up and sweatpants hanging low on his hips. He furiously rubbed his eyes, trying to make out the blob before him.
"Taehyungie? What're you doin' here? 'S like 4 in the mornin.." Jeongguk's eyes fluttered shut for a moment, unconsciousness threatening to wash over him.
Taehyung smiled, then winced as the throb in his ankle became more prominent. He shrieked, falling to the ground and holding his ankle in pain.
He began to cry, almost like a child would when they scraped their knee. "Jeonggukie it hurts.."
Jeongguk was immediately awake, bending down to examine Taehyung's sore ankle. He carefully slipped off his shoe, pulling his sock down slightly.
There was a huge purplish-blue knot on his ankle bone, dried blood surrounding it. Jeongguk cringed, swiping his thumb over the bump.
"Tae, I'm taking you to the hospital. I think your ankle is broken." Taehyung's eyes grew wide with fear; he had never been to a doctor before and he didn't know what to expect.
Jeongguk stared at him with pleading eyes, and he had no choice but to comply. "Wait here, okay? I'm gonna go grab my keys and leave my hyung a note."
Taehyung nodded, wiping a few tears from his cheeks. Jeongguk disappeared inside his house for a few minutes, reappearing with his keys in hand.
He carried Taehyung to his car, sliding him into the backseat. As they drove to the local ER, Jeongguk kept sneaking glances at Taehyung who was staring off into space. He smiled a bit, then sighed angrily.
Once they got to the entrance of the hospital, they noticed how vacant it was. Jeongguk looked around for a second, quickly snatching a wheelchair and placing Taehyung in it. He wheeled him inside and began filling out paperwork to have him checked on.
The hospital was too dead to check on things like date of birth or parent names, and Taehyung was given a cast and a prescription for painkillers.
where is taehyung?
Taehyung's mother was having a complete meltdown. She had thrown everything in her room on the floor, shattering a window and her mirror in the process. She has scraped open her forehead, blood trickling down the side of her face.
She had woken up a few minutes after Taehyung left, checking on him in his room. When she discovered him missing, she assumed that he had gone to tell the police what she had been doing to him.
She went into complete panic mode- just where was her son?
Taehyung thanked Jeongguk over and over for taking care of him, hugging him tightly and trying his best to maneuver back to his house in his new cast. He snuck in through a window in the back of the house, a small thud being heard once he fell.
He shuffled upstairs, closing his door with minimal noise. He was too tired to notice the utter disaster that had become his room, posters torn and his collectibles scattered everywhere. He snuggled into his comforter, oblivious to the blood splatters covering it.
His mother was seated in the corner of his room, arms wrapped her knees as she shook back and forth. She was biting her nails feverishly, shaking as she observed Taehyung sleeping.
She wanted to kill him, preserving his body so he wouldn't ever leave her. Her brain was a ball of mush, plagued with her untreated illness.
Taehyung had no idea what his future held. Or if he would have a future at all.
Instead, he dreamed of Jeongguk. Only Jeongguk.
only jeongguk.
