Jeongguk slid back into Taehyung's mom's car silently, sighing and letting the soft hum of the engine comfort him.

His minuscule calm before his grand storm. He had told Namjoon to meet him at Taehyung's house in two hours, making sure he contacted the local institution to inform them that a new patient was arriving.

Jeongguk began to feel extremely guilty; he practically loved Taehyung after such a short time but he was already sending him off at such a young age.

a/n: jeongguk thinks taehyung is 16-17. jeongguk is 19 in the story.

Taehyung nodded in his sleep, his head occasionally bumping against the cool window. The drive was peaceful, the most relaxed Jeongguk had been in days. As he drove up to the driveway, Taehyung slowly blinked awake.

He rubbed his eyes with the back of his uninjured hand, cheeks puffed out like they had been stuffed with marshmallows. He yawned cutely and Jeongguk glanced in his direction, mentally cooing.

He turned the car off, hurriedly making his way to Taehyung's side and letting him wrap his small arms around his neck as he carried him to the front door.

He pulled the chain out of the way easily, as it was rusty and old, and carried Taehyung up to his [now] disheveled room. He placed him on the bed gently, observing as Taehyung rolled onto his side, hugging a pillow close to his chest.

Jeongguk sighed, approaching Taehyung's dresser and pulling out clothes to pack for his stay at the hospital. There were a strangely large amount of child-like clothes: bright blue dungarees and overalls with little white bunnies as well as a plethora of striped shirts and animal-print socks.

As he began stuffing clothes into a white duffel bag, he paused at the sight of 4 black journals, each with the cover heavily scratched. He cautiously picked one up, opening it to the first page.

In cute small letters, Taehyung's name was printed along with, "Stay out, mommy!" Jeongguk chuckled a bit, flipping further into the book. To say he was caught off guard was an understatement; the words printed on the pages were egregious to say the least.

There were a scary amount of realistic faces drawn with the eyes scribbled out as well as the word "mommy" scrawled over and over, embedded deep in the paper with a pen. As he kept flipping, he continuously noticed how the word mommy got messier and messier as he advanced in the book.

Once he reached the last page, it was completely blank aside from a drawing of a single cartoonish eye with a tear falling down. Jeongguk placed the journal back inside, picking up another journal with significantly less scratches on it.

He hesitated before opening it, almost as if he was expecting something to jump out and bite him. Instead, he was met with a ton of cursive diary entries and small flowers doodled in the margins. He began reading, noticing the date set to 2005.

My dearest diary,

My mother and father have been bickering constantly ever since my mother was diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia. I don't blame her though, it was inevitable due to grandma's condition. It doesn't seem quite fair how he treats her; why is he blaming her for a mental illness she couldn't control? Sometimes, I desire relief and pray that one day I'll meet someone who will free me from this constant demise of my soul.

~K.T.

Jeongguk was highly confused by the eloquence in Taehyung's writing. He couldn't have been more than two or three years old at this time, so how is there a full journal with his writing?

He gathered every journal in his arms, packing them carefully into the duffel bag and turning around to check on Taehyung. He was still fast asleep, thump poking between his lips. He mumbled something inaudible, turning to the other side of the bed and squeezing the pillow tightly.
