Chapter 3: The Guardian

2 days passed since Phoenix woke up. Today she was going to be discharged as everything was normal with her except her memory. Everyone was waiting for the doctor with a worried look on their face as no one knew how to handle this situation.

  " May I ask who is the guardian of the patient here? ", the nurse asked. Jungkook looked at Eunjoo but she signalled him to answer. " Yes , I am ", he said. " The doctor wants to meet you ", the nurse said and he followed her.

" Mr. Jungkook , we need to handle this case very delicately as her mental state is critical ", the doctor said and Jungkook nodded his head as the doctor was explaining about Phoenix. " We are discharging her but we need to give her certain information about her current life but remember don't put pressure on her to remember anything , it can harm her. The thing with her is that certain parts of her memory is lost or I should say that she went back in time. We asked her and she said that she studies in an university and I guess she owns a company. I hope you understand her situation ", the doctor passed a sheet of paper pointing at the space left for guardian's signature and relation. He paused before filling the relation. Jungkook thought that if everything would have been normal then he would have entered fiancé there but he entered boyfriend and signed below it. " You may wait outside. It may take an hour to discharge her ", the doctor said.

     Jungkook went back to everyone.
" I have to go ", Eunjoo said as she hung up her call. " Where? ", Jungkook questioned. " There is a property dispute between my uncles and because of it they are willing to kill each other ", she said. " But if you will not be here then who will stay with Phoenix ", Jungkook said. " You will ", Eunjoo replied. " But I can't , she doesn't remember me ", he defended. " She is right. You are the closet one to her ", Namjoon said.

"But ", Jungkook said. " No, buts. You are going to stay with her ", Jin said and Jungkook agreed to it as he can't disobey the eldest's decision. " Mr. Jeon, can you please come with me? ", the nurse said and he followed her. She took him to Phoenix's room and bade him to go inside. He went inside and saw Phoenix looking at him curiously.

"So , you are Jungkook , my boyfriend? ", she asked him as her ears turned red with the question. It was weird for her to ask such a question but the situation made her to ask it. " Yes , I am Jungkook ", he said with a smile which was covering his inner pain. Her voice felt like the first droplet of rain in a thousand decades. No one can say that he didn't missed her.

Jungkook walked forward as she gestured him to sit in the chair beside the bed. " Hi , I am Phoenix ", she extended her hand for a hand shake. He took it and with a smile he said , "I know". "Oh! I'm sorry ", she said as she realised that her words felt like daggers to him. " You can take her now ", the nurse interupted. Jungkook nodded and walked out.

Phoenix changed into her clothes and walked out and saw BTS and Eunjoo standing. Eunjoo was very happy to see her and the others were also happy to see her but the fact that was making them worry was that Phoenix doesn't remember them.

Phoenix walked to them. " Hi , I am Eunjoo , your assistant cum best friend ", Eunjoo introduced herself.
"Hi",Phoenix replied. " Here , Its your phone. My number is in it. If you ever need me , I'll be there. Call me anytime ", Eunjoo said giving the mobile to Phoenix. " Take her home. She needs to rest for now ", Taehyung said to Jungkook. He nodded and they all walked out of the hospital.

Jungkook opened the car door for Phoenix and asked her to sit inside. "Jungkook! ", Namjoon called him. He came to him. "I talked to Bang PD nim about you and he said that its ok", Namjoon said. " Thank you , for talking to him on my behalf ", Jungkook said and turn towards the car. " Jungkook !", Namjoon called him again. He turned towards him. "The thing is, he said that we can only wait for 2-3 months and if there is no hope then you should leave her ", Namjoon said and kept his arms around his shoulder. The tears started to build up in Jungkook's eyes but he controlled it and said " I understand". He turned towards the car and sat inside it and started it. Phoenix who was sitting inside the car and watching everything didn't knew what they all were talking about but she knew it was her who was making them sad.

When Jungkook entered in the car , she saw his red eyes which were bickering with tears. After few minutes of silence , Phoenix gathered her courage and said , " I'm sorry. I'm making you all sad. Its my fault ".
" No , its my fault ", he said by looking straight ahead on the road. After that night , every moment he considered himself guilty for everything as he wasn't able to save his beloved that day and a drop of salty water filled with infinite mixed emotions rolled down his cheeks.
