To Earth

There was a commotion outside the metal box I am forced to call home, it sounded like it was coming from multiple directions. Frustrated I stood from the spot I had been sitting in for a long time. I began to pace as the screams got louder and closer before fading back to silence. This happened most days, it meant that someone had just turned 18; I highly doubt that many people shared the same birthday.

I was too busy pacing while trying to come to a conclusion on what was happening that I didn't hear the cell door being thrown open until a bright light filled the dark cage,

"Prisoner 173, face the wall." The guard's motto tone voice demanded.

"What?" I snickered, "Did Jaha finally decide to reduce the criminal population?" I turned to face the wall knowing no good would come from me being disobedient.

"Be quiet, " I heard the guards walk closer, "Hold out your right arm."

I did as told and as soon as my arm left was in the air I was shoved into the wall by two guards that had accompanied the demanding one. I struggled in their tight grip before I felt a prick in the side of my neck. I couldn't hold myself up anymore; I felt weak and the only reason I was still on my feet was the two bodies pressing against mine against the wall.

"Try not to murder anyone," I barely heard before I completely passed out.

A sudden jolt and screams are what I awoke, I lifted my head and quickly scanned around the room. There were teens strapped into seats and onto the walls with red seat belts. I continued to look around for someone I knew but there was no one.

"Prisoners of The Ark, hear me now," Jaha's face appeared on a screen placed near the roof of the room and I couldn't stop the disgusted look that quickly made its way onto my face, "You've been given a second chance, and as your chancellor it is my hope that you see this as not just a chance for you, but a chance for all of us, indeed for mankind itself," The recording babbled.

I shook my head and closed my eyes to block out the murmuring of the prisoner surrounding me and Jaha's voice.

"Scared, Princess?" I heard in someone mutter to my right.

"God no," I scoffed and turned my head to a blue-eyed boy, "I'm trying to go back to sleep," I stated before closing my eyes once again.

"We're hurtling through space and you're going to take a nap?" The boy huffed.

"It's a lot better than listening to Jaha go on about whatever it is he's talking about," I opened my eyes to look at the boy again this time to find him shaking his head with a slight smirk.

Once again, I returned to trying to sleep and I would have fallen asleep if it weren't for the sudden jerk that sent three idiots flying through the ship. Sparks fell from the ceiling and onto my skin causing me to shake my hand slightly from the burning. I looked at the boy next to me to see his eyes shut and his breathing a bit harder than before. He must have felt me staring at him because he opened his eyes and tried to look calm.

"It's alright to be scared," I spoke lowly as I leaned toward him slightly.

He just looked at me before turning his gaze in front of himself and gripped his seatbelt tightly. As the ship shook more and crashed into the surface of the radiated planet, screams sounded throughout the entire ship and Mr. Im-so-tough closed his eyes again.

"Listen, no machine hum," Spoke a light voice from behind me.

"That's a first," Someone replied with a breathless chuckle.

In sync, all the buckles came undone and we were finally free from the seats. everyone began rushing to the latch that seemed to lead to the lowest part of the ship; pushing and shoving to be the first to witness the wonders of Earth. I waited for the flood to clear out before following.

I waited for the last girl to make her way down the ladder but she stopped midway, called out a name and rushing the rest of the way down. I started down after that but stayed on the ladder so that I could see everyone that was packed into the tiny space. Amongst the various criminal teens, there was one man wearing a guard uniform.

I listened to what everyone one was saying about the girl as she hugged her brother, which I found out due to the fact that a blonde girl called out the fake guard for not having a wristband like the rest of us. As a few more people made comments about Octavia Blake, the girl went to lunge at them but was stopped.

"Let's give them something else to remember you by," Bellamy Blake suggested to his sibling.

"Yeah?" The long-haired brunette scoffed, "Like what?"

"Like being the first person on Earth in 100 years," The girl got the biggest smile on her face and her eyes lit up like kids when they get a new gift. She stood in front of the door and waited for her brother to pull the lever to reveal our new home.

As he pulled the lever the hatch opened and it felt like it was the first time I was really breathing. The air had a smell to it that I've never smelt before and the coolness brought a new feeling to my lungs and the sight was so much better. Everything was green and there was real sunlight; It was breathtaking.

The brunette made her way down the ramp slowly, each step creating a thumping as it came in contact with the metal. She stopped at the end taking in the newfound glory before hopping off the end.

"We're back bitches!" She screamed as she threw her hands into the air joyfully. Thus releasing all hell.
