The Demon Possessed My Heart: A Black Hat Love Story

Welcome to Black Hat Org Part 1

Colleen's Pov: I was walking on the sidewalk, looking at a paper I held in my hand. It was actually an ad about a place called Black Hat Org, a business where they make these cool gadgets and devices for all villains who want to take out superheroes. They are hiring, but it didn't say what positions were there. I found it odd, but I was looking for a job anyways, so they might have something that'll work out. That's where I'm going right now. I looked at the address and tried to find the building, and to my luck, I found it in no time.

"Wow, it literally looks like a black hat" I said, looking at the house. I shrugged my shoulders, opened the gate and walked right up to it. I go up to the door and rang the doorbell. Then, a lot of missiles, saws, and other weapons appeared and they all were pointed right at me.  I wasn't phased by this. I simply rolled my eyes and sighed. "Geez, paranoid much" I muttered. After I said that, I hear a voice coming from the voice com that was by the door. "H-Hello, who are you? If y-you're a sales person or a girl scout, y-you better leave now or face the consequences" said the voice. It was a male voice, and he sounded kind of nervous. "Well, lucky for me, I'm neither. I'm actually here about the ad on the paper, that you guys are hiring" I said to him. Everything was silent for a moment, until all of the weapons were gone and out of the way.

Then, I hear the door open and I see a guy that is wearing a lab coat, blue shirt and jeans, red shoes and has a paper bag over his head. 'Strange' I thought, but didn't question it. "Y-Yes, we are looking for new workers. Do you wish to work here?" he said. "Yes, yes I do" I replied. "Well, alright, um, come right in then, miss-" "Colleen, Colleen Pendragon, and you are?" "Oh, right, I'm Dr Flug, the scientist here". We shook hands and he lead me inside. "Sorry about all the weapons, the boss doesn't like it when people trespass here" he said. "Oh, it's fine, I wasn't bothered by it" I said to him. We walked through the hallway as he continued talking. "You'll need to talk to Mr Black Hat about getting a position here, so I'll take you up to his office". Before I could say anything, a big blue bear came before us, eating some ice cream. 'What is something cute and cuddly doing in a place like this?' I thought. "Miss Colleen, this is 505. He was supposed to be a vicious killing machine, but as you see (points to him, who was still eating ice cream) things didn't turn out so well" Dr Flug said.

505 finishes his ice cream, gets up and greets us. I go up to the bear and stick my hand out to him to shake. "Hey there, 505, it's a pleasure to-AAA!!" Rather than a handshake, he pulls me in and gives me a bear hug (hah, get it? Cause he's a bear? Okay, I'll stop). "Oh, I should've warned you, he's a hugger" Dr Flug said. I struggled to breathe, but I managed to say "thanks for the reminder". I'm not much of a hugger, so this felt weird to me. 505 releases me after a minute and I finally manage to breathe. "Thanks for the, uh, hug" I said to him. He smiles sweetly and skips off to somewhere else. "Shall we continue?" Dr Flug asked. "Yea, lets go" I said. But before we could even take a step, a red haired girl that looked like a crazy psycho popped out of nowhere, giving out a loud 'boo' to us. Flug jumped and hid behind me. I just sighed, not evening flinching.

"Hah, got you again, Flug!!" she said to him. "Demencia, stop that!!" he said, still hiding behind me. The girl, who I now know as Demencia, falls to the floor laughing like a maniac. "Wow, she must seem to like terrifying people" I whispered to myself. "As a matter in fact, I do" she said, clearly hearing what I said. I kind of widen my eyes, thinking how she could hear me. Then, I noticed Dr Flug still behind me. With an annoyed look on my face, I cleared my throat, silently telling him to get off my back. Flug hears this, and steps back, saying sorry while doing so. When she stopped laughing, Demencia crawls up to me like a lizard and gives me a questioning look. "And who are you supposed to be, hmm? Are you secretly a spy that's trying to steal my boyfriend from me?!" she asked me.

'Okay, this girl is mentally insane' I thought as her face got really close to mine. "Ok, first off, personal bubble please (pushes her away a few inches). Second, I don't even know who your boyfriend is, nor do I believe that you have one. And third, I'm simply just here about a possible job. So, if you don't mind, I'd very much appreciate it if you'll allow me to do what I came here to do and not make a big deal out of it" I told her, my anger slowly rising. Demencia hears the tone in my voice and stays silent, but not before saying 'ok, ok'. A small smile crept onto my face as I turned my attention back to Dr Flug. "Ok, Doc, shall we head on to-" and of course, before I could say anything, a loud, sinister voice shouted over us. "What in the blasted horror is going on down there?!" it said. We looked up and see a man with dark grey skin and wearing a suit and top hat, all of which are the colors of black, red and grey. "Ah! B-Black Hat, sir. H-How was your nap?" Dr Flug stuttered, his voice getting nervous. "It would've been peaceful if you two weren't shouting!" Black Hat said, very angry.

Then, his attention goes to me, his glare softening but slightly. "Who is this, a salesperson? Get her out!!" he shouted. With a sigh, I calmly said "no, sir, I'm not a salesperson. I'm actually here about the ad you have on the paper, it said that you guys are hiring, and I was wondering if there are any jobs available". As I said this, everything was silent, barely anything made a sound. Black Hat stares at me, as if seeing if I was telling the truth. He drops his glare on me, giving me a neutral look and puts his hands behind his back. "Very well" he said. He looks over at the other two and said "you two, no more interruptions". They both shuddered with fear, but it mostly was Flug. "Meet me in my office, and we can discuss what to do with you" he said, turning his attention back to me. I didn't say anything, but I just simply walked up the stairs to his office. Before I went, I look at Dr Flug and Demencia. Flug whispers a 'good luck' to me and Demencia just gives me a thumbs up. I gave a small smile to them in return and went to the office.
