Angel's POV

"Bey, can you hear and see me?" I asked.

I was waving my hand obnoxiously.

"Yes." She said. "Stop doing that."

 I laughed.

 "You miss me?" I asked.

 "No." She said.

"That's fine. I done miss your as-

 "Angel!" My mom said.

I looked back at her as Bey laughed.

 "Sorry." I said.

I actually forgot she was sitting there. I had Bey on a video conference call at Mama's office. I had Mama, Daddy, since he was in town, and Solange here to talk.

"What you call us here for?" Solo asked.

"I have an idea." I said.

 "Oh god." Solo groaned.

"No, it's good." I said. "Alright so if I hadn't received my GED I would be in school now and I wouldn't be bored. So I got to thinking, why don't I just go to school."

 "Uh, I'm lost." Bey said.

"I wanna go to school." I said.

"The only thing you could do right now is college." My dad said.

"Right you are." I said as I pulled out some letters.

 "What's that?" My mom asked.

"These are letters from Columbia, NYU and St. John's." I said.

"What? When did you apply." Bey asked.

"I'm on probation and was punished. I had free time." I said.

"So your serious?" My mom asked.

"Yes." I said. "I can be like Martin Luther King Jr."

"He went to college at 15." Solo said.

"Okay, you know what I mean. Don't rain on my parade and he went to jail too." I said.

"That's not the same thing." My dad said.

"Okay, forget the jail part but can I go?" I asked.

My parents looked at each other.

 "I don't know-

"Please, I won't be on campus except for classes. I won't be living in a dorm." I said. "Please, let your smart beautiful daughter go to college."

 Okay, now I'm begging.

"Yeah, let her go." Bey said.

"Yeah, let the smart ass go." Solo said.

 "Thank you." I said. "Wait."

 Was I just insulted?

"Hand me the envelopes." My mom said.

"Yes!" I said and handed them to her.

"Where you wanna go?" Bey asked.

 "NYU." I said.

I went to sit by my mom when she opened the letter. We were all looking at her patiently waiting. She opened the NYU one first. She had to take out her glasses to read and was taking a million years. It's either congrats or no.

 "Ma!" I yelled.

"Who you yelling at?" She asked looking at me with that eyebrow that makes me feel three.
