Oh to my dear husband Jack
I dearly hope I'll be returning back.
Our love has lasted for years
And we have both dried one another's tears.
But I fear they haven't said
That my dear deepest love in this life's dead.
**
For here I wait for my Jack
Think of him wonderng if he's still sick
I lie in hospital clothes
Knowing he'll worry for me if he knows
Anything other than him
Visitors talk about, each to their whim.
**
Oh, oh my dear husband Jack
I long for anniversary days past
I wish that we were at rest
Celebrating our own togetherness
Everything festive at hand
For our love and for our happiness grand.
**
Jack I would call if somehow
You could come see me here in this place now
Where one bird perches nearby
Outside my window He's not a rare type
But yet he is ever sweet
And he won't ever leave me.
**
And Jack would you know it but
Outside my windows I can see a hut
That shields a train and I thought
You loved to look at trains so often that
I wonder if that's the one
Missing one that kept your search going on.
