In the Lian Mountains, lies a dormant spirit by the name of Daiyu. A Mountain Deity of renowned power and strength, she met her demise at the hands of love.

She had fallen in love with a powerful water dragon spirit known for his beauty and grace; the dragon god loved her as well.

Other immortals warned them that their love would not last long because of the considerable difference between them. Although they were both beautiful, celestial beings, they were like night and day. The dragon spirit was like the moon, elegant and soothing, even with such ethereal beauty he was never overbearing but always humble. He smiled often, and his kindness extended to everyone and anything. The mountain goddess was like the sun; commanding and proud, with a sensual aura that enticed even the darkest of souls. She was merciless, known for her love of war and battle. She rarely smiled, only tolerating those before her. She especially hated mortals and their realm.

So it was to no surprise when the Dragon Spirit's heart wavered and turned to a princess from the very same realm Daiyu scorned. It was the only time she had ever experienced such utter defeat and by the hands of a human no less. What hurt her the most was that he had hoped to keep it a secret from her. Sadly for them, Daiyu was no fool!

"Do you love her?" She had asked him, steeling any form of emotion from showing. He had looked at her with a face filled with guilt and remorse. His golden eyes bore into crystalline pools of ice, trying to read her with no avail. "Yes." He whispered his response.

Her heart had been torn asunder by that one single word, yet her pride did not allow a single tear to shed from her. Inside her raged a current of hate, sorrow, and desolation. The only one she ever loved had been taken from her, by a dirty mortal!

Her face did not betray her as she looked him straight in the eye. Her face was aloof; cold and distant. It stunned the silver-haired beauty, realizing she had never looked at him like this before. He had truly lost her love, something inside him mourned bitterly.

"If you give me a good reason why I should allow a mortal to take what is mine, I will allow her to live."

His eyes narrowed at her threat. Something deep within him knew this would be the outcome; he was a fool for thinking differently, and a bigger fool for endangering a human's life because of it. He also knew her well enough to know she was lying.

"Why must you be cruel, Daiyu?" He countered, his voice deep with conviction. His sharp jaw clenched with anger as he took a step forward, towering over her with a withering glare. She smirked, she had always found these expressions of his endearing and sexy. Her humor, unfortunately, did not last, knowing the reason why he had reacted in such a manner was over that human. Her eyes, the color of the crystal sea, narrowed menacingly at the male before her. The outline of a large white tiger began to form behind her; the spirit within her began to rouse.

"I have never been anything but cruel. If you thought my kindness would spread beyond you, you were sadly mistaken," She spat, closing the distance between them. "Now, before I go and ask her myself, why do you love her?"

His face darkened, and he narrowed his brows until a faint snarl formed. He did not want to go this route.

She stoked his anger by mockingly arching a delicate brow.

"I love her because she is kind and pure, knowing no evil. Although she can not outshine your beauty, her gentle soul is enough for me to forget it."

And with that marked the battle between old lovers. Daiyu waged war against the imperial family of the mortal realm, while the dragon lord championed them. Her lover was a formidable opponent, as powerful as her, but when it came to emotions, his love for a human could not surpass the fires of her rage. A scorned female had no match, and thus she was able to wipe the human and her whole descendants, from the face of the earth.

She did not leave unscathed, as she was cursed to enter a deep slumber for a thousand years, the only thing a priestess could do since killing a deity was merely impossible.

"For your crimes against humanity, you will dwell underneath your mountain for at least a millennium!" The powerful priestess had spoked with a thunderous voice as she sealed the deity with talismans.

Daiyu's eyes never left her old lover's cold gaze as the priestess condemned her. His beautiful golden eyes had once looked at her with pure love and warmth; now they were cold and dull as amber, filled with hate and disgust.

"Not only did you battle against me for the sake of that human princess, but you let a dirty human dare sentence an immortal?!" She shouted with a hoarse voice that sounded unusual to her. Her chest heaved in despair, her eyes glistening with a storm of emotions.

A flicker of surprise flashed before his eyes until they reverted back to their original detachment.Slowly, she reached for her face that felt moist. Unbidden tears cascaded from her eyes, down to her cheek until they mixed with the stone floor beneath her. She looked back at him, her beautiful face pinched with rage.

"I curse you!" She shouted at him, losing all composure as she felt invisible chains begin to bind her.

Her eyes glowed with a fiery passion, the roar of a tiger resonated through the dark temple, "Like the moon and the sun, you and your human lover will never embrace, only fleeting glimpses and yearning shall you have. And after my thousand years are over, I will come and find her. I will devour her soul!"

Out of anger and rage, he bellowed as he grabbed her by the neck, his eyes turned into those of a serpent as he once gentle touched turned into a vice-like grip, his sharp nails digging into her flesh.

The priestess calmly walked towards them, holding one last paper talisman, placing it on Daiyu's forehead.

"As your last punishment, upon the end of your sleep, you will be forced to leave your heavenly body and live as a human until your hatred for us no longer rules your heart"

Daiyu growled with resentment, clutching at the dragon's arms as she felt her self being pulled away into a dark abyss. She screamed with frustration, unable to move as she plummetted deeper and deeper. The distance between them grew until he faded away into nothingness. She cried one last time before resigning herself to her fate, closing her eyes as the last of her tears floated away like weightless raindrops.

Before her eyes closed she made a promise, to never be a fool and love again.

Hmph.  Like she could ever love a dirty human....
