chapter 7:
Cyrus looked up at Tj. He then looked down at the basketball he was holding in his hands and held it out for Tj to take. Tj grabbed the ball purposely touching Cyrus' hand resulting in a glow.

Tj sighed as though he was expecting a different outcome. He took the ball and started to dribble it. He turned around and took one step when Cyrus let out, "wait!"

Tj stopped dribbling and slowly turned around. He held the ball at his side. Cyrus hesitated before saying anything. Then he took a deep breathe.

"Can we talk..." Cyrus said softly. Tj nodded. Buffy, Jonah and Andi then stopped their game when they saw Tj. They hadn't noticed him earlier. Buffy walked over. She cleared her throat.

"Is there a problem here?" She asked, chin high. Cyrus shook his head and gave Buffy a look that said that she should go away. She slowly nodded and back away, scowling at Tj. Then Tj looked back at Cyrus and nodded to the question he had asked earlier.

"We should go somewhere more private." Tj looked around. Cyrus nodded and stood up. Tj tossed the basketball to his friends and began to walk as Cyrus followed.

"Are you mad at me?" Cyrus asked in a quiet voice. Tj looked over at him.

"I don't think so...I mean this," Tj tapped Cyrus shoulder to reveal light, "isn't your fault." Tj looked at the dirt path they were walking on.

"Yeah...I know...but you stormed out and you aren't talking to me." Cyrus bit his lip.

"It's just...were you ever gonna tell me about the book?" Tj sighed. He didn't want to address what the book said...it still was all so confusing.

"Eventually...I was just scared to..." Cyrus shrugged and looked around the park. He spotted a bench and when they reached it he sat. Tj sat too.

"So...do you believe the book...do believe that we're..." Cyrus began not wanting to say the word.

"Soulmates..." Tj finished. He didn't want to say it either because Cyrus was a boy. A boy. Tj never liked a boy. Cyrus slowly nodded. Tj shrugged. Cyrus sighed and looked down at Tj's hand sitting on the bench.

He could've took it and held it. Every nerve in his body wanted him to. But he didn't. Tj didn't seem to happy that they were soulmates.

"Are you upset...that we are soulmates?" Cyrus blurted out because the curiosity was killing him. Tj looked over at Cyrus.

"Um..." Tj really didn't know what to say because he really didn't know how to feel.
"It's just..."

"It's because I'm a boy isn't it?" Cyrus raised his eyebrows and looked at Tj.

"Cyrus...I...I just don't know if I uh like boys...." Tj gripped the bench tightly. He didn't look at Cyrus.

"I didn't really know at first either." Cyrus said realizing after he said it that he said a little too much. Cyrus bit his lip.

"Y-you're...uh..."

"Gay. Tj you can say it. It isn't a bad word." Cyrus lightly laughed. "But yeah...I'm gay." He smiled. Tj looked over at him and smiled.

"But I really don't know Cyrus." Tj looked straight a head. Cyrus placed his hand on Tj's shoulder.

"It's ok Tj. You don't have to know right now." Cyrus comforted Tj. "How about we forget about the book. Forget about being 'soulmates' and just be us. Friends." Cyrus suggested.

"I like the sound of that." Tj smiled. Cyrus nodded and stood up.

"Let's head back." Tj stood up. They walked back to the basketball courts where they met up with their friends.
