Chapter 14: More Than Just 💡

Cyrus slowly plodded down the hall stopping and taking a deep breathe before walking into math the next day. Then he walked in the door. He made his way to his seat. Tj was there but he didn't wanna say anything to him so he just acted like he wasn't there.

Tj slid Cyrus' notebook over to him. Cyrus took it. He smiled at Tj. As they did their work Tj got stuck so he asked for help from Cyrus. Cyrus helped him but then they didn't talk anymore. After class they walked out together.

"So how was picking up your little brother?" Tj asked looking at Cyrus. Cyrus rolled his eyes playfully.

"You know I don't have a brother." Cyrus laughed.

"Yeah I do. But I just wanna know why you left in a rush and lied." Tj took a deep breathe.

"I just...I don't know." Cyrus shrugged.

"You don't know?" Tj furrowed his eyebrows.

"Why are you friends with me?" Cyrus asked.

"Uh...Because you're cool?" Tj was confused.

"Is that a question?" Cyrus kinda walked slower as he looked at Tj.

"Um...no..."

"It's not just because of this." Cyrus touched Tj's shoulder revealing a glow.

"I mean..."

"Right. I gotta go." Cyrus quickly walked into the class they were right next to and sat down next to Andi. Tj couldn't follow him because that wasn't his class so he just went to class confused.

aT LuNcH

"Did I miss anything yesterday at the spoon?" Cyrus asked as he place his lunch tray on the table.

"Not really. Just Andi talking about Amber." Buffy smirked at Andi.

"Do you like Amber?" Cyrus asked remembering he had to find out.

"Wow Cyrus. Very blunt." Buffy laughed. "I like it. So do you?" She turned her head to Andi. Andi sat there not knowing what to say.

"Ok...well I have been curious about if I do...and I think I do...I think I'm pansexual." Andi slowly let out. Cyrus smiled.

"Aw. Cool!" Buffy hugged Andi.

"Yeah, cool." Cyrus grabbed Andis hand smiling. Then he let go.

"This is just how I wanted to come out to you guys. In a school cafeteria." Andi laughed. Cyrus and Buffy laughed too. Then Jonah arrived and sat down.

"Sorry I'm late. Mr. Jones always keeps us extra time. What'd I miss?" He asked setting his bag down. Cyrus and Buffy looked at Andi.

"Nothing." She smiled and looked down at her food.

Cyrus' phone buzzed and he looked down. It was a text from Tj. He looked across the cafeteria. Tj was once again not communicating with the other boys at the table.

Tj💘: hey is everything okay?
Cyrus💚: yeah.
Tj💘: are you mad at me?
Cyrus💚: idk
Tj💘: why??
Cyrus💚: i just thought we had more than just 💡
Tj💘: we do! I didn't mean that.
Cyrus💚: Then why else are you my friend?

Cyrus looked over at Tj who seemed to be struggling to compose the text. Cyrus rolled his eyes and put his phone away not caring what Tj had to say. Tj looked over at him just as he did this. Tj sighed. After lunch Cyrus walked to class with his friends.

Cyrus sat on his bed reading the letter he wrote to Tj. Then he placed it down and sighed. He looked at his phone to see Tj never texted back. Then he placed his phone down. Just then the door bell rang. Cyrus shut the note in the book and walked downstairs to the door. He opened it to see Tj.

"I'm your friend because you are amazing, kind, understanding, funny and you always put a smile on my face unlike anyone else." Tj softly smiled. Cyrus smiled really big.

"How long did it take for you to come up with that?" He asked laughing.

"I just didn't wanna mess things up again so I had to find the right words." Tj laughed. Cyrus smiled.

"You can come in." Tj stepped inside. Cyrus' mom walked to the door out of curiosity.

"Hey Tj. Good to see you again." She smiled.

"Hi Mrs. Goodman." Tj smiled back.

"Ohhh Cyrus is this-"

"Ok mom I'm gonna take him upstairs." Cyrus grabbed Tj's arm and practically dragged him upstairs. Cyrus walked into his room.

"Oh look it's the book that started this all." Tj walked over to Cyrus bed and picked up the book. Cyrus lightly laughed before realizing the note was inside.

"Uh yeah." Cyrus walked over to Tj. The note was sticking out.

"What's this?" Tj grabbed the paper and pulled it out.

"Nothing!" Cyrus reached for it but Tj snatched it away. "Give me!" Tj laughed. Cyrus was practically having a heart attack.

"It says...Dear Tj..." Tj looked at Cyrus. "Is this for me?" Tj laughed.

"No! Don't read it."

"Chill. Is it a love letter?" Tj joked looking at the seriousness on Cyrus' face. Cyrus had nothing to say to that because that's exactly what it was. Tj looked back at the letter. "Is it?"

"Tj..."

"Now I'm intrigued." Tj looked down at the letter and began to read it.
