Caroline's P.O.V.
"Hey, Caro, can you hand me the popcorn?"
I glance up away from the TV to see Gavin's hand reached out for the popcorn on the far right of the couch, but he wasn't close enough to reach it. But I could.......
I took the bowl of popcorn and acted like I was gonna give it to him. But instead, I took the whole bowl and placed it in my lap, enjoying the delicious, buttery popcorn.
I glance over at Gavin and saw that his mouth was wide open.
"Might catch flies," I said, as I closed his mouth with my hand. He rolled his eyes playfully and tried to reach for the popcorn again. This time, he had a better chance since the popcorn got closer to him.
I tried to get the bowl away from his reach, but he was taller than me and had longer arms. He easily took the popcorn away from me in seconds of trying. I huffed and focused my attention back to the movie. I could practically feel Gavin smirking beside me.
Fifteen minutes later, I felt something hit the side of my head. I quickly snap my head around. Gavin was focused on the movie and the bowl of popcorn was in his lap. As I glance down, I saw a piece of popcorn right beside me. As I kept looking around for the thing that hit me, Gavin started quietly chuckling.
I looked over at him and it looked like he was trying to hold back a laugh.
"What?" I asked, warily. He turned his head to look at me.
"Popcorn sure goes well with your hair," he said with a grin.
I reach up to my hair and pull out a piece of popcorn. I gasp as I realize what was happening. Gavin was throwing popcorn at me! I grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bowl and threw it at him.
He looked a little surprised at first, but then, he quickly grabbed a handful of popcorn as well and threw it at me. I sat there with my mouth open and he took that as an advantage as he threw popcorn into my mouth.
I almost started choking on the popcorn, but quickly regained control of everything. I stood up quickly and grabbed the bowl from him.
"Oh, it's on," I said as I threw some more popcorn at him.
It quickly turned into a full on popcorn fight. All I could see was popcorn flying at me. Laughter filled the room as popcorn flew everywhere.
We soon ran out of popcorn. As our laughter died down, we both looked around and realized the huge mess we had made. We both looked at each other and I knew we were on the same page. My mom was gonna kill me if she sees popcorn all over the living room.
"We should probably clean this up," I said. Gavin nodded, agreeing.
As we started tidying up the living room, the door flung open. We both snapped our heads to the open door. There in the doorway stood my mom. Her eyes widened as she scanned the living room.
"What were you guys doing in here?!?" she exclaimed.
"Uhh..... we were having a popcorn fight?" I responded.
Her face softened and she lightly chuckled.
"Don't worry about it. Just make sure to clean up every single piece. You two love birds have fun," she said, walking out of the room.
Gavin and I looked at each other and started laughing again. But then my mom's last sentence came back into my mind. You two love birds have fun.......Gavin and I are only best friends. We've been best friends since kindergarten. A part of me doesn't like the idea of us dating and the other half of me likes the idea. I'll have to admit though, his hugs are the best and his smile is so ador-
"Helloooo, earth to Caroline."
"W-What?"
"What were you thinking about?"
"Oh nothing," I replied, trying to sound as convincing as I could.
"Ok then," he said, suspiciously.
We finished cleaning up the mess and we both flopped onto the couch, tired. We resumed the movie and made a fresh batch of popcorn. This time, we both promised to not start another popcorn fight. We both snuggled onto the couch with the bowl of popcorn between us.
Suddenly, Gavin moved the bowl of popcorn away from the middle and placed it off to the side. He scooted closer to me by the tiniest bit. I couldn't help, but want him to come closer.
He kept inching closer every few minutes until our shoulders were touching. He looked down at me and I looked up at him. We both smiled at each other. I snuggled into his side as he wrapped his arms around me.
A few minutes past and I could feel my eyes getting droopy.
"Go to sleep if you're tired," Gavin whispered.
"Ok, thank you," I whispered back, yawning at the end.
I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep. But I swear I felt someone kiss the top of my head right before I fell asleep........
