Magnus POV:

It has been a long day and me and Alexander are sitting at the fier place in my apartment in Brooklyn. His head  rests on my chest and I strive my fingers through his hair, while he struggles to keep his eyes open, tired.
I lean towards his ear "Maybe you should go to bed." I suggest. He opens one eye and looks up to me not quite convinced. "I'll be right there, I'll just clean up the table." Alec just settles his head back on my chest murmuring something inaudible. I stroke through his hair again and kiss him on the back of his head. "Alexander" I whisper. "I don't mind you falling asleep on me, but this sofa isn't the same as our bed you know?"

"Mhm mhm..." is all I get for an answer. I chuckle lightly, he's too cute really. "Then it's my heroic duty to bring you securely to the land of your dreams, Sir Alexander." I say.
He slaps me lazily on the chest and mutters "Don't call me that, it's even worse than 'pup'." but I can see his lips curling up into a light smile.
"You could bring me there, though." he adds.
"Then you'll have to accept how I call you, pup." I chuckle.
Alexander turns around to face me and moans "Magnus, please just shut up and take me to bed, will you." as he clutches closer to my chest.

In spite of an answer I push one arme under his knees and one behind his back, lifting him up into my arms as I stand up.
"Now that's what I'm talking about" Alec teases me, his eyes still closed but a smirk on his lips.
"You know," I tease back as I walk towards our bedroom, "It's still a long way 'til we get there princess, so better be careful." But I don't get an reply from him as he curled up in my arms already falling asleep again.

Alec slipps slowly down onto our bed, as I bend down to rest him there. Carefully I push a string of hair out of his eyes and place a kiss on his forehead.
"I love you, Alexander." I wisper into his ear and his lips turn lightly into a smile, though he's almost sleeping, his eyes closed. I pull up the blankets around him and switch off the lights with a flick of my fingers before I leave the room.

As I close the door I sign, I would love to lie down next to him right now, but first I have to get a few things done, as I said earlier.
I walk into the kitchen part of the apartment and again with a flick of my fingers the mess we left from dinner disappears. How practical it is to be my humble self, I chuckle lightly.
Then I turn around and walk towards my storage for the herbs and other ingredients which I need for my potions. It is just something every warlock needs. I go through the stuff, sort out some things, order some others and note down what has to be refilled. And again I let the mess clean up itself by a wave of my hand.

And finally I can do something I really enjoy, not that being a warlock doing warlock things isn't enjoyable. But I now get some time for myself, self-care is an important thing. I walk into our bathroom and take off  my clothes. I enter the shower turning on the hot water, letting it run down my back. I sign, there is no such thing as a hot shower in the evening. I wash my hair with the shampoo I know Alec likes the most and get out. I let my magic do it's work in drying me as I put on my dressing gown. Yes I am spending my magic a little carelessly, but I can't help it today, I mean what use would it be not using it? Exactly! Non at all.

I brush my teeth humming some melody that somehow got stuck in my head in the past eight centuries as I hear something. At first I can not identify it, because I hadn't been expecting it at this late hour. Then I recognize it as a knock, a light, light knock at the door of our apartment.
