To Isla – the girl that once asked the teacher if she could use a pair of binoculars, of which she had left in her bag after sports day, to see the blackboard after she accidentally left her glasses at home.

I hope that answers your first question.

Finding your letter in my locker this morning has definitely proven to be the most interesting part of my day so far, I'm not going to lie, but I enjoyed it, thoroughly, so I thought I would repay the favour.

The change in my absolutely banal routine was more than welcome, and to be honest, I'm so glad that the smarter people, such as yourself, still use the traditional pen and paper to contact people, as the amount of direct messages I've been getting with incorrect grammar and spelling is really starting to worry me.

Anyway, lets talk about what you said in your letter, because I must admit, I didn't expect that at all.

The fact that you think about me was enough to shock me initially, but everything you said after that replaced that shock with curiosity, as well as the boiling impatience to know the answers to the myriad of questions that I'm now left with.

Thanks for that.

Your comment on the toilet humour made me laugh at it's honesty, as you are not wrong. I, myself, like to look for the more interesting jokes between the lines of the pages more so than I do making unintelligent jibes about whatever 'she said', although that in itself is one thing — among the many others — that me and my fellow footballers do not have in common.

I wonder, does toilet humour make you laugh? Or are you much harder to please? You've got to tell me, because I quite like the idea of making you laugh when I'm not supposed to — as you like to put it.

In regards to my 'emotional balance', I think I'm rather mature for my age due to the circumstances I was raised in. As the oldest of four with a father that spends his days constantly working to ensure that we're never without anything, I guess I'm not without my own challenges and responsibilities. Perhaps it is this that provides the seriousness of my personality, although I am interested in what other things you've observed, and how that has painted me as a character within your own mind.

Would you tell me if I asked you?

In regards to your very flattering description of me, I should say thank you and just leave it at that so I don't embarrass myself, but I can't write this letter without telling you that your own cool brown eyes and dark auburn hair definitely make you a dangerous temptation for any guy trying to focus on his studies – trust me, I know.

Finally, that leaves me with the main topic of your letter, I must admit, I couldn't create a response of which I believed to be worthy of your wholehearted letter, so I thought I'd settle on something that explains things the best I can for the moment.

Let's just say that every time our gazes have met, it was never an accident.

I'm afraid that's all I've got for you today, Isla, although now, I definitely hope to see more of you in the future.

Jackson.

P.S - Just know that I once put toothpaste in my hair for an entire year in 6th grade, thinking it was minty hair gel.

Now the playing field is even, just in case you thought I would tell anybody about your letter.
