Monroe's P.O.V
He just stood there. I guess he still have a problem with communication. But I still walked in and sat on a seat at James's desk next to Leo as we both glared at him. James got off his desk and returned back to the leather chair behind his desk as he sighed.
I rolled my eyes and leaned forward at his silence. "Let's cut the shit. I'm not waiting for an apology or an explanation as to why you left. I already know it's because you were being selfish but that's not important right now." I hissed at him as i leaned back into my chair. "What have you done to piss of Hans, dear brother?"
He looked shocked as his glance flickered between Leo and I. "How did you know about that?" James's comment make Leo laugh bitterly. "Because, dumbass, whatever the fuck you did made the target on Monroe's back even bigger! Even your father came and killed her in case you wanted to know! But of course you wouldn't since you've not spoke to her in nine years!" Leo yelled as he rose from his chair, making me smile at how protective he'd become.
"See these bruises all over her body? You've made that worse. So I suggest you start talking before I kill you myself. Because something tells me that Hans won't be far behind us."
Leo sat back down casually as if he didn't just lose his cool and James looked worried. "He's coming?" Was all he said. Not 'are you okay' or anything like that. But I didn't expect any less from him. "Yup." I said bluntly, popping the p at the end making James run his hands through his hair.
"I stole something from him and he's not happy about it." He explained briefly making Leo more angry. He pulled out his gun that was in his suit jacket and aimed it casually at James's head. "Get to the point, Winter. I've got things to do like protect your sister, not like that's supposed to be your job or anything."
"Okay. Okay. I stole a large shipment from him full of guns and ammunition."
What. The. Fuck.
"What do you need with heavy weaponry like that?" I asked him as he dropped the scared look, now replaced with a smug face as he leaned forward. "Do you think JW is just a normal office? Do you think I'm a CEO of some crazy business? Think Monroe. Think about where you are. Remember."
Leo's gaze landed on me as I sat there confused. That was until it hit me. I'd been here before. I'd been here many times.
"There's no fucking way."
Leo asked me seriously what I was on about and I sat there glaring at James for a moment until I spoke. "You weren't shocked when you heard dad attacked me because you were there, weren't you?"
James chuckled at me. "Bingo."
"Okay, someone care to fucking elaborate?!" Leo bellowed as I kept my eye contact with James. "You knocked Leo out. You hacked the cameras so his men wouldn't see dad attacking me and come and help. It was all you. And your secretary knew what was going to happen, didn't she?"
I discretely reached to Leo's waist and pulled out the spare gun he had stored there. I could tell Leo had clocked on already.
We had to get out of here.
James's laugh bounced off the walls as he typed on his phone, sending a message to someone. "You're smart. Always have been Monroe. You want this one on your team, Valentino. That is..if you make it out of here without the Germans killing you both."
And with that, James whipped out a gun and aimed at Leo. Acting on instinct, I pulled the gun I took from Leo and pointed it at James in unison with Leo. "You're outnumbered, James. Drop the gun and let us go or I'll shoot you. I don't care either way." I said bluntly, clearly taking James off guard. "You wouldn't shoot your dear brother, would you?
I burst out laughing. "You were willing to let me die. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have any blood relatives anymore."
"You'll always be alone, Monroe." He hissed. "You don't have a family like you just said. Everyone left you."
I walked closer to Leo and placed my spare hand on his arm. "You're wrong. I have a family. They may not be blood, but they're willing to die to save me. And, trust me, I'll return that favour. So I suggest you put the gun down before I shoot you."
I watched as James dropped his gun on his desk laughing. "I'll let you go. But only because killing you now would be too easy now, wouldn't it? You won't make it very far before Hans and his men will be after you. So good luck to you."
I picked up the gun he dropped on the desk because it was better than the one I had before walking towards the door to his office door followed by Leo. Before I opened the door I turned round and shot James in the leg. He screamed out in pain and cursed. "Why the fuck did you do that?!"
I smiled sarcastically at him. "That's for knocking out Leo, you prick." Before walking out the door to an eerily quiet floor. I walked over to his secretary as she looked sympathetically at us. "I'm sorry." She whispered, as she pulled out a crate from under her desk. "Take these. It's some of the weapons and ammo he stole from Hans, you'll need it."
We both smiled gratefully at her as we geared up. She slid over a small tablet with CCTV cameras on it. "This shows all the cameras in the building so you can see where they are."
Leo took it in his hand and flicked through, walking towards the stairwell. "Thank you." I stated to the woman as I caught up to Leo.
We entered the stairwell and paused, checking whether the coast was clear. "You ready?" He asked me and I nodded. "Let's just hope the training comes in handy, shall we?"
