Grace Kay's POV:
I breathed deeply through my mouth, trying to ignore the rotten smell coming from the garbage in front of me. I hated this part of being homeless and "invisible" but this was my food source when I couldn't find a kind-hearted person to buy me a cheeseburger or something.
While my hands moved furiously, my eyes darted around the alleyway, scouting to see if any lifeform was watching me or advancing for the food. When I finally found something that was probably editable, I grabbed it and hurried away from the alleyway before the rats or mice could disturb my "peace."
Hurrying along the sidewalk, taking quick bites of what I thought was an abandoned hamburger bun, I tried to act normal. Not like I was a homeless kid on the run from anyone who could drag me to the foster care. But then again, the world gave up on me a while ago. First the police, then the foster care, then the people that I used to know.
Forgotten and alone.
Forever.
I sighed deeply. It wasn't always like this...
A/N: Thanks for much for starting the journey with Grace!! Sorry, it's a short chapter but I felt it wouldn't be good to start right away with a flashback... so here we are: in an alleyway with a girl who's been forgotten by the world!!
