Two years later...

Joel Smallbone's POV:

"Everything ready?" I asked my wife, Moriah.

She rolled her eyes and replied with, "Yes, and it has been for the past five-hundred times you've asked!" She smacked me playfully and I smiled saying, "You know I'm worried love."

"I think everyone knows your worried right now." said another voice. I glanced over to see Luke grinning with his wife, Courtney, right beside him. Jude, Phoneix, and Leo were all trailing along behind them.

"Hey, Uncle Joely!" Jude said cheerfully. I waved and said "hey" back.

Courtney let out a sigh and said humorously, "I hope you know how hard it is to convince them not to tell her. Especially when it's their cousin and when it involves a birthday-party. I will be glad when all the secrecy stops..."

"It will all be worth it to see the look on her face when she opens the door and everyone is here shouting surprise!" Moriah replied. I took a sweeping glance around the room. Everyone was indeed here. My parents, the band members, and their family, we were here.

I pulled out my phone and glanced at the time. My eyes widened and I quickly shouted, "Places, people! Places! She'll be here in three minutes!"

Everyone moved at once and went to their hiding spots to wait for her to arrive. Some of the kids loved this new "game" their parents were telling them about. I was right by the door, the closest to her when she arrives.

T-minus one minute till her arrival and I hear the car pull up and the door slam.

    30 seconds... 10 seconds...

     The door opens and...

Grace Kay's POV:

"SURPRISE!!" everyone shouted. I jump backward, and tripped over the doorstep, falling onto my backside. Dad (Or Joel) is laughing as he helps me up. When I'm standing once more he whispers into my ear, "Happy birthday, love."

"Thanks, Dad... but how could you keep this a surprise for so long!?" I asked, grinning as I saw everyone inside. Mom came up and said, "It was very hard." I laughed and allowed myself to be pulled towards the dining room where there were decorations everywhere and on the table: a cake.

The time seemed to pass by quickly, as it always does when you're having fun, so soon it was just me, Dad, and Mom. We were sitting on the couch together, watching my favorite movie. When it was over and it was almost 11 o'clock, Mom went to bed giving one last "happy birthday" on her way out.

At first, me and Dad just sat silently on the couch until I said, "Thank you. It means a lot to me, and you know that."

Dad smiles at me and places his hand over mine. "Of course, Grace. I love seeing the look of utter shock on your face." We laughed together and then he made me go to bed saying "You may not feel tired but I do"

In my bed, I went over today's events with a smile. Ever since Mom and Dad had officially made me their daughter, life was better than it had been for a very long time. I had a family once again! Plus, a house and a cat and a very large and annoying dog...

Not only that, but I had welcomed Jesus back into my heart after several years of rebellion!

Just as I drifted off to sleep, I whispered into the night, "Thank you God for holding onto my busted heart..."
