Hold on to me=======
Grace Kay's POV:
Before long, everyone was up and ready: hope making their faces shine. I cleared my throat and waited until everyone fell silent to say, "I want everyone to know that this is dangerous. If we get caught there is a very large chance we will die. If anyone wants to stay behind, I'm cool with that. However, I tell you this: it is better to try and fail than to sit and wonder."
Joel cheered and clapped so I rolled my eyes at him. "Nice speech!" he said with a grin. He already knew everyone was coming, there was no question when it came to escaping.
"Then without further ado..." I muttered as I turned towards the giant, metal door that had trapped us for so long. Then promptly released my magic on it. Within seconds, it was melted and we were surging over it. (Making care to not step in the hot, liquid metal.) There were only two guards, but I knocked them out quickly before they had a chance to raise the alarm.
There was a long hallway that we turned right on. (Since right is right someone reasoned.) We took turns guessing which way to go, all at random. We occasionally ran into a few guards but I used a spell to transport them into the nearest room and lock the door.
Everyone was joyous, hopeful that we would make it. We were going to escape. However, after another left turn, we faced the worst possible scenario.
Voicestealer was standing in the middle of the hallway with a lot of guards at his back. He had a smirk on his face that crushed all my hope and joy.
We couldn't get past him. We weren't going to escape. He was going to kill us right where we stood and-
Wait. What if we didn't have to get past him? What if...
I spun around to the group and said, loud enough for everyone to hear, "We can't get past them however I can create a portal that will teleport you out of here but I can't make it take you far. Anyone have any ideas as to where I should teleport you that's nearby?"
John Cooper spoke up, "We were kidnapped while on the road and our tour buses are nearby. How about there?"
I nodded in affirmative and quickly started weaving the spell I needed. Sweat rolled down my face as I knew Voicestealer was getting closer... and closer. I finished it and spun around to face Voicestealer.
He was very close. Too close. I started waving everyone in but knew not everyone would make it. We needed a distraction so everyone could leave.
I knew what had to be done. I closed my eyes for a second, took in a deep breath... and let it out. I might not make it but...
I had to do this.
For the bands.
For Joel.
I whirled toward Voicestealer and a battle cry leaped from my lips. I ran into Voicestealer and knocked him down. I created a magical wall that stopped the guards from getting involved. I held Voicestealer's shoulders down with a strength I didn't know I had.
Tears blurred my vision as we struggled and I could see he had the upper hand.
"You won't win!" he screamed at me, spittle flying out of his mouth. He was about to throw me off so I resorted to violence and punched him in the jaw shouted, "THIS IS FOR MY FAMILY!" A split second later, we were throwing punches and kicking at each other. He finally threw me off but it was towards the portal. Wincing in pain, I got up and full-out ran for the portal. Voicestealer was at my heels, hands out to yank me back.
Diving headfirst into the portal, I closed it quickly.
Darkness surrounded me before I could make sure everything was okay: that Voicestealer didn't come in the portal or if I had made it.
