Opinion:

This book has got to be one of the most beautiful fairy-tale retellings I've ever read. The author writes in this amazingly elegant but sassy tone and has created some of the most diverse and complex characters. I was a little skeptical about its similarities to 1001 nights initially, but the author managed to grasp the essence of that story and add her own original ideas too, which is mind blowing. Islam and Middle East culture has been portrayed really well and for the first time, I read about a religious protagonist in a book.

Zayn's character was just so beautifully expressed in that aspect and you get to see a whole new side of religion. But at the same time, it never defined him as a person and I loved that. Blaire is a QUEEN- she's badass but still insecure on the inside and all her reactions seem just so realistic, especially how she keeps underestimating herself. To see her grow and build her self esteem was an amazing journey.

The plot also included a ton of political drama and scarring pasts, which I was completely digging. The way all the sub plots were eventually woven together into the plot was done seamlessly. The romance was heart wrenching and possibly among my favourites. I love slow burns and this one wasn't just some cute high school story but one that held so much more meaning and complexity. Also, the ending couldn't have been more perfect. I was so disappointed when I saw that there were no bonus chapters (I needed more of Blaire and Zayn!!!!) that I downloaded Radish for that sole purpose.

This is actually a sequel to a book called 'Once Upon A One Night Stand' which is also pretty good, but I have to say, I like this SO MUCH MORE!!
