The Fault in Our Charas

Chapter 5 The Concert

The alarm clock rang across the room, the sound bouncing from wall to wall making it into Amu's ear. Amu sprang up from the bed and groaned. "Morning Amu" Dia said already up and ready for the day, unlike the other charas. Amu turned off her alarm clock and got out of bed, bumping into almost everything until she got to her bathroom. Once she shut the door she let out another groan.

"She's starting to worry me" Dia frowned. Miki poked Su awake, Su screaming causing Ran to wake.

"Amu's heart is getting cold," Dia said touching her chest, "I've been feeling it too ~ Desu" Su said with tears gathering in her eyes. Miki placed her small finger on her chin, "Is it because of Zero?".

Dia's eyes gazed around the room and she finally placed her gaze onto Amu's bag, remembering the letters she had written to Ikuto.

Dia shook her head, "She misses Ikuto". The charas all sighed together with sadness.

Amu opened the door, with her hair brushed and a strand pulled back with a red hair bow. Her face was covered with makeup and her lips full of lipgloss. She began undressing and browsed around the room until she found her uniform jacket.

Amu finished lacing up her boots and found her self face to face with her calendar. Crap, I forgot.

"Today's Utau's concert!" Amu gasped, "I don't even know what I'm going to wear!".

"Jeez, Amu that's what you're worried about" Miki rolled her eyes and laughed. " Amu glared at Miki.

"You guys have been getting on my nerves maybe you guys should stay home today." Amu grabbed her bag and stormed out of the room.

Su began to cry "A-Amu-chan!" Su cried barely coherent. Dia and Ran quickly comforted Su, Miki just floated in the middle of the room in shock.

Rima grabbed her boyfriend's hand rushing him into the school's gate. Nagi was reading an Art of Dance Vol. 3 that had just come out the day before.

"Nagi...Nagi...Nagi!" Rima let go on his hand and scoffed walking to class, Nagi still didn't let go of his book.

Rima spotted Amu turning the corner into their classroom's hallway, "Amu! Excited about Utau's concert tonight!".

Amu with every last bit of energy and excitement she had in her, she looked up and smiled. "Yea, I am". Rima could sense that there was something wrong with her best friend, but she still didn't question her.

"I can't figure out what to wear" Amu let out with a small laugh. "You can come over and get ready at my place, we'll invite Yaya. You can look through my closet". Amu finally let out a genuine smile. "I would love that."

"Are you excited to see your girlfriend?" Yaya teased Kukai, as he sat down at their regular lunch spot. "Are you kidding? Hell yea I am!" Kukai smiled, Daichi popped up from behind him "He won't stop talking about her!" "Okay!" Kukai blushed and hushed his little chara.

"Where's Ran? ~ Dechu?" Pepe asked. Amu wasn't listening, she sat in silence picking at her lunch. "Yea!" Daichi second, "Where is the rest of them?".

"Amu?" Zero walked up to their conversation, and Amu finally responded. "I'm sorry? What?"

Everyone at the table, including Zero could tell something was off. Zero especially could tell something was wrong. The charas shooed away with their own master, not letting Zero sense anything different between the group. "How are you guys?" Zero asked, trying to break the awkward tension between everyone. Everyone greeted Zero and went on with the conversation as if nothing had occurred. Amu greeted Zero, like normal and began to talk about what was on TV the night before, unfinished homework, and it seemed completely normal. Things had settled down and before everyone realized lunch was over. Everyone said their goodbyes, "Okay Amu meet me by the gate after school!" Rima reminded Amu as she scurried off to her final class. Zero wasn't quick to leave Amu alone, he was gentlemen enough to walk Amu to her classroom. Neither of them said a peep to each other until reaching Amu's classroom. Zero just smiled at Amu, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead and squeezed her hand before realizing it. "Text me" was all Amu said before walking into her classroom.
