I made my way over to Sweet Pea's house a little after eight, and I'm not going to lie, I was losing my mind with nervousness. It wasn't the first time we were hanging out of course, but for some reason I felt like this was more... special, than those other times, more intimate. I spent about an hour trying to figure out if I should wear a dress or jeans and a t, and in the end decided on the latter.
I told Fred and Archie I was sleeping over Kevin's and texted Kevin to let him know that that was the cover story if anyone asked, so I was safe for the night I hoped. I hated the fact that nobody could really know about me and him yet, but I knew well enough that it was important that I kept it between him, I, and a few friends for now.
I stood on his front steps for a few seconds to collect myself before knocking softly because I knew that he would hear it, regardless. The door swung open a few seconds later and his expression lit up as soon as he realized that it was me. I handed him the food that I had picked up along the way and he laughed, nodding his head, "I was about to order pizza, you didn't have to get food for us," he told me, clearly annoyed that I wasn't letting him micromanage.
"Oh, I know but I decided that I was going to be a little quicker than you on this one, Pea," I gave him a quick peck on the cheek and made my way inside. I took off my coat and hung it up, plopping down on the couch. "That shirt looks so good on you," he whispered in my ear as he propped himself up on his arms, hanging over me. I could stay like this forever, I thought.
We ate the food in front of the TV and then cuddled for about an hour, I almost fell asleep like 20 times but each time he woke me up because we were getting to a "good part" in Fight Club. I woke up fully at almost the end of the movie and tried to watch it as interestedly as possible, clearly failing. After a while, we just sat there and talked. We talked about his life before, his parents, my parents, how he got into the Serpents, my life back home, etc. etc.
I felt weird opening up to him, but it was worth it in the long haul, I thought. It was about 3 AM when we decided that it was time to head to bed. "Come on, my lady," he laughed as he picked me up bridal style from the couch and carried me into his bedroom. It was small and cozy and smelled like post-rain grass, which was a smell I associated with him.
He placed me on the bed carefully and I huddled into the side closest to the wall, as per his request, I was always one of those people who hated sleeping on the side of the bed that wasn't next to the wall. He laid down next to me momentarily and I nuzzled my head into his chest, falling asleep right after he placed a short kiss on my forehead.

I woke up the next morning to the smell of coffee and something burning. Alarmed, I shot up out of bed and ran to the kitchen to find out what was going on, walking in on Sweet Pea trying to fan the smoke out of the kitchen after he seemingly burned an omelet. He noticed me and automatically tried to cover up what he was doing.
I laughed and made y way towards him, tip-toeing to kiss him and wrapping my arms around his waist. "You impressed with my cooking skills?" He joked.
"Gasp! What gave me away?" I entertained, planting some more soft kisses on his cheek, neck, then shoulder. Suddenly, my phone vibrated and I quickly ran into the bedroom to check it, seeing as I had ended up sleeping for like 12 hours. There were missed calls from Archie and Betty, but one extremely unsettling text from Fred Andrews.
From Fred: I know where you are, and right now, I don't even have time to be disappointed in you. I need you to get home right away, there are some issues going on that we need your help with.
Dammit.
