"Cody turn your lame camera off all we are doing is eating dinner." Aubree remarked.
"So, what! I have to get every great moment on camera."
"This isn't a great moment, its dinner, idiot." I smirked.
"Yeah, what Crystal said!" Aubree taunted, while sticking her tongue out.
"Hey! Don't talk to your brother that way, girls. Say you're sorry." Dad ordered.
"Fine dad." Aubree and I groaned.
"So what is our dinner conversation going to be about tonight?" asked Dad
"The new video game, you know, The Killing War Extreme 3!” Adell said with excitement.
“Or... we could talk about how I’m graduating on May 28th.” I suggested.
“Honey, I’m so proud of you, you have made it so far, and it’s amazing. You’re going to be a college student next year! But... I am afraid I have some bad news baby girl...”
“Yes daddy?”
“Well, Crystal, honey, I can’t see you graduate... That’s the day I leave for Peru.”
“But dad... Everyone is flying in for this; even mom is flying in from England. I can’t believe you are going to miss your oldest daughter graduate because of your stupid job! I hate you!”
The hate I felt for my father at that moment was unreal. I slammed my fork on the table and ran upstairs.
“This is gonna be some great film for my blog.” Cody chuckled.
This was only the beginning to what would turn out to be a horrible nigtmare...
As a month went by graduation only got closer and closer. As I walked through the halls of CherryWood High I realized soon enough I would be taking off to college and never hear another high school locker slam shut. I would never see another freshman picked on by a senior or bend so far down to sit on the toilet. It was all almost over. The last week of a four year cycle was flying by. As I thought to myself my gorgeous boyfriend grabbed my hand.
“Hey babe, have you been excited about graduation?” asked Tre.
“Yeah...” I said under my breath.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well... I’m upset because my dad isn’t going to be there and ever since he told me he couldn’t be there all we have been doing is fighting.”
“Oh, why didn’t you tell me this before?”
“I don’t know I thought you would get pissed off and I didn’t wanna upset you or stress you out.”
“Well I’m not mad about that. I am upset you didn’t tell me-
The bell rang interupting Tre.
But whatever I’ll talk to you after Chemistry.”
He never talked to me after chemistry so I went on my short drive home as soon as the bell rang. When I walked in to my room I saw my little sister Aubree sitting on the top bunk of our childish bunk bed. She was always in there reading her silly Bop magazines.
“Girls, I’ve got your laundry, I hope you’re dressed, I’m coming in.” Came from outside the door.
“Hi daddy!” said Aubree.
“Hi cupcake”.... “Crystal, since you’re going 17 going on 18, you need to start doing your own laundry, you understand me?”
“Sure dad, whatever.” I mumbled.
