"Summer? Are you aaa-wake?" I asked nervously as I was shivering helplessly
"Huh?" Summer mumbled while she wipped the drool from her mouth. She suddenly paused "Wait... where are we?" Summer asked with concern.
We then realized we were no longer in my cozy car. We looked around only to see we were laying on a cold matress with no sheets or blankets. Surrounding us were bars as if we were locked up in jail. Dozens of machines were in the room. We stared at each other with fear in our sparkly eyes. We realized we were in a warehouse.
"HELP!" Summer yelled.
"Shut up Summer they cou-"
I didn't even get the chance to finish my sentence before a large metal door swung open. We gasped when we saw a man walk in who looked to be at least 300 pounds. He was carrying a gun in his right hand while stomping over to us. The door slammed shut and locked behind him.
"What the hell do you girls think you are doing?" The man asked with great anger.
"Nothing...." Summer said beginning to pout.
"Don't hurt her... She's just scared. She won't do it again." Crystal said hoping to help the situation.
"Hurt her? Please, I wouldn't dream of it. Now that is if she follows the rules and you do too." The man chuckled.
"And those rules are?" Summer waited for an answer.
"The deal is I was asked to keep you here for a reason that I am not allowed to share with you. You will be fed a chicken sandwhich with baked beans every day three times a day. You both will shower once a day and put on a new gown each day. Summer you will shower at 7:00 PM each day and Crystal you will shower at 8:00 PM each day. You will be treated for lice once a week. You will be allowed to use the bathroom when there is a supervisor present and your hands will be cuffed. You will be given a pencil and notepad once every two weeks. You will be granted a bag to keep some of your belongings in. You will only recieve a belonging back if it cannot be used to escape or hurt one of the workers. You will address every person here as "sir" or "m'am". Lights go out at 9:30 PM every night and the wake up alarms will go off at 7:00 AM every morning. Go ahead and yell and scream as loud as you would like because anyone outside of the building will not be able to hear you. Lastly if you disrespect me or my coworkers you will be shot. Got it?"
"Yes sir." We replied.
"I just have one question..." Summer said.
"What would that be?" The man asked.
"How did we get here?"
"That's for me to know and you to not find out. Now girls you will be recieving your chicken sandwhiches in twenty minutes. Summer you will recieve your first lice treatment and shower in 1 hour. Crystal, yours in 2 hours. Now goodbye."
We looked at each other briefly then foced our eyes back on the man. We were more scared than ever to say a word until the door shut and locked. Finally the latch clicked and we stopped staring at the large door.
"What are we going to do? We are going to die here." Summer said while fluffing her pillow.
"It could be worse, it looks like it won't be too bad."
"What are you talking about? This is insane. I feel like we're in jail. I am so curious as to why we're here in the first place."
"They probably have something to do with my dad's murder and they want to make sure that we don't uncover the case."
"Well that's true, but do you really think you could crack this case?"
"Well yeah, my daddy believes in me I know he is up there believing. I owe at least this much too him, to find his killer so he can have justice."
I said in a defensive voice as a tear began to slide down my pale face. I then pictured the great memories I had with her father and panted my face into my pillow crying uncontrolable tears, just like the ones that poured down my face on the day of the incident.
Summer looked around and then looked at me crying and breathing heavily. After five minutes she finally got the guts to speak to me.
"Crystal, I'm sorry..."
"Just forget it..."
"No I-"
The door swung open and this time a women approached us.
"Girls, here's your food." the petite woman said.
"Thank you m'am" Summer said.
"You're welcome, your bags are going through processing, they will be given to you with selective belongings at 9:00 PM tonight."
"Thanks m'am"
"Of course, I will be back to get your trays in 30 minutes." The women mumbled as she walked out of the door.
Summer tasted her chicken sandwhich.
"This is disgusting." Summer complained
"It's all we've got." I pointed out as I wipped my face with my shirt sleeve.
After a night full of nothing but hell we finally got certain belongings back. I was relieved that I got pictures back of my dad and my sister Aubree. I kept them close at all times. Once 9:30 came the we snuggled up with our blankets and pillows; we prayed for survival. We remained alert all night.
