Chapter 3: past the finish line which determines the end

I drove as fast as I could, not caring if I was past the speed limit or not "kanny, your going to be okay I swvere!" I swerved around some cars but ended up in a traffic jam.
I panicked and hopped out, picking kankri up bridal style and biting my lip. "wve'll get there.. it's right up ahead. you'll be fine!" I say that but deep down I know that he's lost too much blood.
I ran through the dark past street lights and cars plus some people in hyper mode. I could feel some adrenaline running around in my veins too.
"Cro..nus.. i want you to know.. that it's not y-your fault okay? there's nothing that could have saved me.." I grunted "no! your staying aliwve kan I svwere okay?! If I didn't care I vwouldn't be doin' this vwould i?!!?"
I made it to the steps and collapsed once we made it inside the building. "sawve him.. please.." I mumbled before being knocked out from exhaustion.

I woke up and looked around. "cro.. your awwake.." I squinted "eri? is that you?" he nodded and I frowned. "vwhere... vwhere's kan? is he alright?" I looked at him, sitting up a bit as my heart began to race.
"..." He stayed quiet, looking down and sitting on the bed. "vwhat?.. Im going to go see him vwhats the room number??" he frowned and I frowned, looking down.
My heart began skipping beats and my stomach did flips until I got my answer. "room 414" I got up, ripping the IV and other tubes out of my arm, making my way down to the room across the hall.
"Kan!" I swung open the door to find his heart monitor beeping. "thank god.." I walked over to his bed and kneeled beside him. "cronus..." he mumbled, half awake.
By now I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. "I'm so sorry... I didn't mean for this to happen.. I thought it vwould be easier to tell you hovw I feel if we drank some.. but i fucked up.." I frowned and put my head on his chest. "no.. you didn't.. I promise"
I gripped the sheet covering his body and suppressed any whimpering sounds. "you knovw.. I alvways acted cool around you.. I knovw you newver liked any of that stuff but I vwas determined to impress you so you vwould like me" I listened to the heart monitor some more.
"I like you for who you are cronus.. And it's fine that this happened, it was planned to anyways... except, I was going to drink my life away while you were at work." he spoke softly and kissed my head. "it was a hard decision to make.. because I.. I actually have been questioning my sexuality and found that I'm gay.. for you.." I blushed hard. "I lowve you chief.. and I've been meanin' to tell you.. for avwhile"
I sat up and kissed him gently on the lips. He slowly kissed back. don't get a boner don't get a boner don't get a boner- it's not the time for this.
I pulled back and frowned. "kankri, I vwant to be the shoulder you lean on when your sad.., I want to be the one you tell all of your problems to vwhen things rent going your vway.. I vwant to be the one you lowve alvways. Vwill you let me be that man? Through all of the thins vwe'wve been through together.., is it too late to ask.. vwill you marry me?" I looked up at him and he was turned away eyes brimmed with tears.
"Yes, of course I will.." he turned back and I smiled, kissing him again. We kissed for awhile before a voice spoke up behind us. "cronus, you have to get back to your room now" I frowned and turned toward the nurse. "I can't"
"I hawve to stay vwith him until he's okay.." She frowned and walked over to us. I pulled out the small box (ignoring her) and slipped a bright candy red ring on kankri's finger. "I lowve you kanny. And I wish you the best. it's sad to say but this bi- nurse vwants me to leawve so ill be back soon." Kankri smiled at the ring then at me "thank you cronus... see you soon"
