Chapter 5: too far past to be true
As cliché as it is, he used to be my prince.. then I found out I can be my own prince.
A quiet voice broke my chain of thought. "cronus, I'm still here if you ever need anything. Ever. Just know that" he stood up and gave me a sympathetic smile, the one I know best.
I smiled back and looked over at the door, seeing Eridan and Dirk exchange a few words before Eridan walked in.
"Good morning Cro, howw you feelin'?" I smiled "fine I guess" then I frowned. "Do you think vwe could go see kankri?" he sat down and smiled. "once he wakes up." "but can't I just listen to his heart beat for a bit?" I pouted and he rolled his eyes. "fine, but for a bit only." he smiled and lead me to the room he had been moved to over night. "vwovw.." I mumbled, seeing all of the random cards and balloons people brought in and thought about how I had none of that stuff. Guess I'm still a problem..
"I knoww right?" Eridan replied and sat in a chair by the door as I sat beside kankri and lay my head on his chest.
A long sigh escaped my lips, the only sounds heard right now was, breathing and kankri's heart monitors beeps.
"I can't vwait till he vwakes up.." I said quietly. With a few seconds pause I noticed the monitors beeping get a little faster and kankri woke up, wide
eyed and he screamed, tears brimming his eyes.
I jumped up and held his hands. "Kan?! Kanny your okay! its okay.. Your alright" I said, trying to calm him. Boy this was scary.
"C-cronus.." he panted. "where's karkat?" I looked at Eridan and he shrugged. "I think kar wwent to get you some food, kan" he nodded and sighed as the monitor slowed its pace.
"..Alright.." I raise a brow "vwhat happened? did you hawve a nightmare?" he slowly nodded. "yes.. I did" I pecked his cheek "vwould you like to talk about it?"
"I had a dream.. Karkat.. he did something terrible.. he killed himself because of me.." he looked down and nuzzled into me. I pet his hair as Eridan called the younger Vantas.
After said Vantas came over with kankri's favourite (chicken noodle soup) he walked in and gave it to him with a tray. "hey. I heard everything.. next time refrain from being a jackass and come talk to me. For gods sake I'm your brother and I love you, a lot more then I may say. So eat this" he placed the tray on kan's lap and smiled a bit.
"Thanks kat.. you worried me. Its alright okay kat? you know I'm not the only one you've got. You have so much friends and family that love you-" karkat and his blush interrupted "uhm shut up about it... I know"
I chuckled a bit and held karkat's hand "ewverythin's gonna be fine" he grumbled but held mine as well "yeah yeah, it has to be right? I mean.. after all, people care about you both too. You just don't see it. So please don't do that again." he had a sad smile on his face, one that no one would ever see again.
"Thanks karkat.." I could tell he wasn't completely satisfied but still wanted it to be okay. "lowve you kan" I whispered into his light brown hair.
"I love you too cronus" he smiled slightly. "I think me an Eri vwill leawve you two alone for a bit" i slowly got up, kissed him softly, then I followed Eri into my room to collect my ,very few, things. (clothes)
Eridan sighed and looked over at me. "you need help there cro?" I grinned a bit. "can you untie the back of the govwn?"
He nodded and did as i said. "thanks" he's my brother so I don't care what he sees. "oh my god cro.." he breathed out as I just slipped off the hospital gown.
"Vwhere are my boxers eh?" I looked at him, hands on my hips. "uhm here" he gave me a folded pair of purple seahorse boxers and I chuckled. "nice Eri" "shut up, I happen to like them" I grinned and slid them on, next pulling a shirt over my head.
Lastly, my pants. I put on the pants and we wait.
