*Marie's POV

Things in Omaha aren't very extraordinary. Or maybe that's just me.

I never go to parties. I never have sex. I guess you could say I'm not a normal teenager, or that my reputation isn't the best. And I'd probably agree with you.

I'm graduating this year and I cannot wait to leave this place behind, but that's in a year. I need to get through one more year of hell.

And here I am, sitting in my blue Focus in front of my highschool. People walking in. I take a deep breath and get out of my car: I have to start somewhere.

I walk inside and nobody yells my name saying they missed me like they are to the other kids. But nobody stares. It's like I'm invisible.

I walk into my first class, AP World History and I take a look at the seating chart, noticing that I'm in the back, and mentally high-fiving myself.

Until I notice that I'm next to Jack Gilinsky, 1/3 of the coolest group of guys in school. The other two in the group are Jack Johnson and Sammy Wilkinson. I hate all of them with a writhing passion, but I guess I have too suck it up.

I go sit in my seat, but Sammy is there.

He looks at me "Is there a problem?"

"Uh... Yeah. Your- uh- in my seat."

"I'm 'uh- in your seat?"

"Sammy just move." Jack retorts.

I look down, and Sammy gets up and goes to the front of the room, where his seat is.

"Sorry about him." Jack says.

I sit down and scoot my desk back to where it was, Sammy had it moved closer to jack.

"Wait-" I stop. "You don't have to move it." Jack says. I look at him and he smirks at me.

"What's wrong with you?" I ask.

"What?"

"What's wrong with you?"

"N-nothing." He says.

"No. Normally when you see me you scoff at me and now your being nice to me? Jack I'm not taking this bull what is wrong with-" he cuts me off by kissing me. I pull back, look at him an then storm out of the classroom, crying.

I hear laughter from the class and my teacher yelling at me to come back but I can't stop running- until I run into somebody. I fall and so do they.

"Shit." I mumble under my breath, and get up, looking to see the blonde, Jack Johnson in front of me.

FLASHBACK

"Oh my gosh she has a crush on Jack how cute!" Sammy yells.

Jack stands behind Gilinsky and Sammy, looking down.

"Johnson what do you think about that?" Gilinsky says.

"I think she doesn't have a chance." He says quietly. Oh my gosh. How did they find out about this?

"Hear that Marie? He doesn't like you!" Gilinsky and Sammy both laugh

END OF FLASHBACK

"Marie are you okay?" Jack asks.

"What? Uh yeah sorry."

He stares at me. "So you ditching your first day or something?"

"That was kind of the plan." He chuckles.

"You can't ditch. It's our senior year. Parties and fun. You gotta enjoy it."

"Except that's all not really my style." I say, pushing my hair behind my ear.

"Oh yeah I forgot. Your the goodie goodie of the class." I look at him.

"You forgot? Sure didn't seem like it last year when...." I trail off in my own words. He smiles.

"Yeah. I know. I was a real dick then. Trust me I've changed." He says.

"I don't know. Now doesn't seem like the time for changing things. You've never changed, anyways"

"There's a first time for everything. Why don't you have many friends?" He says. I look at him slightly.

"people don't really pay attention to me." I say softly.

"I pay attention to you." I blush a little. "I wish I paid attention to you more." He stares at me for a minute. "Come hang out with me sometime."

"Oh uh. Jack I don't-"

"I don't care what people think" he says, getting angrier. "I just want to get to know you."

"I'm not very good at making friends." I say.

He smiles. "I'll help you. You'll be so popular by the end of the year. Please. Come hang out with me."

I sigh and look down. "Okay."
