Race for Your Heart

Chapter 8

Slade POV
 

   I watched as A.J. put her helmet on and got ready for the race. Reece had just talked to her and was headed over to me.
   "I told her if something happens to get out of here and we'd get her money." Reece said coming to leaning against my car beside me.
    "Yeah, we'll get her money." I said nodding, not taking my eyes off her.
     "I saw what you did," This made me turn my head to him and give him a questioning look, "when I was walking over here. You gave her the nod."
     "No, I didn't." I said turning my attention back to the race.
     "Yes, ya did. You've only ever gave me the nod."
     "I don't know what you're talking about."
      "Whatever bro, but I saw it." Reece said going back to watching the race.
         Some guy lines A.J. and Quentin at the line. He backs up and hits the light. They both take off, but they're not side by side for long. A.J. pulls away from him and takes the win. Reece is telling stuff like 'that's my best friend' and 'go A.J.'. A.J. drives over to us and before she can take off her helmet, Reece pulls her off her bike and into a hug. He let's go of her so she can take her helmet off.
      We see Bennett yelling and kicking the tires on his car. He then gets in his car and drives off. Quentin walks over and hands her, her money. He smiles at her, "You did go Jenson." She smiles at him and I don't like it. He walks over to his car and drives off. Probably to find Bennett. A.J. turns to me with a big smile. I give her a one arm hug and say, "I knew you could do it." Reece then pulls her over and starts talking about how fast her bike drive.

Two weeks later

A.J. POV

     It's been two weeks since I won the race against Quentin. Slade,  Reece and I have all been hanging out at my dad's garage. Slade and I have grown closer, he's nothing like I thought. He's actually really sweet and what he said after my race proved it.
     I'm currently on my way to the garage to meet the boys. I'm riding down the road when a truck comes up behind me and tries to run me off the road. I try to keep my bike steady,  but I can't. I crash. I roll off my bike and onto the road. I landed on my right side. I can't move. I can't breathe, it hurts so bad. I hear a engine roar as the truck drives away. Then everything goes black....
